this is way under rated. I would say one or two. No one who goes to FR has Alexa on their computer.

Actully, does anyone have the alexa tool bar or google anything on their computer?

Thanks for posting, greyfoxx39.

A number of the names ahead of FR are news media sites, with budgets and infrastructure that are much stronger than FR. So this reflects very well on FR.

Secondly, FR is the only site in the top 10, that was created and run by conservatives, for conservatives, to discuss the news and conservative issues, share ideas, to plan and organize, and for activism. It is also the only best pro life and pro traditional marriage site. This is the best site for fiscal conservatives and social conservatives.

Good news first. I love FreeRepublic and will always be a supporter.

Bad News. Because of this wretched economy, we are losing our business of 30+ years. With the downturn in the building industry, we have only had two profitable months in the past year and a half. We are facing a choice of turning it over to the bank or trying to sell it....with no buyers in the market. Believe me, we have tried every option....to no avail.

Good news. Mr. RR and I are 70 years young and it’s time to retire.

Bad news. I can’t continue with my dollar a day, but will send what I can, when I can.

Keep up the good and noble fight, Jim. FR has been a lifeline to reality for so many of us.

No doubt fox doesn't belong on that list and Sun news network isn't on the list even know it beats most of those sites in terms of being conservative and Web ranking.

This has got to be satire.

This is not possible TBL’s 1,000 members but 15 posters say that FR is on the way out, and no one new ever goes there, but TBL is on the way up and will over take FR any century now.
TBL is like what? 6,554,000

What did he say? I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything.

It is very loosely defined at least.

I assume the thinking is “if the mainstream considers it to have any conservative flavor at all, then it is conservative.”

That is certainly true of their including the Army Times on this list. That is purely because it is the Army Times.

The Army Times, fwiw, is owned by Gannet News Corp. and, iirc, and they won’t allow us even to post anything here on Free Republic at all.

I didn't know about the Alexa toolbar. Wikipedia has this to say:

Alexa Internet

"Alexa Internet was founded in 1996 by Brewster Kahle and Bruce Gilliat.[3] The company's name was chosen in homage to the Library of Alexandria,[4] drawing a parallel between the largest repository of knowledge in the ancient world and the potential of the Internet to become a similar store of knowledge."

Much more information at the link.

Fox News....conservative???

I guess "conservative" has been redefined too.

The trouble is that we are always trying to think and communicate in the distorted, Newspeak version of “English” which we inherited. We call the FR perspective “conservative” because the right word for it - liberal - has been co-opted by journalism to mean pretty much the opposite of what it meant before the 1920s.
Americans - all Americans, FReepers not least - are truly progressive and truly liberal. FReepers believe in liberty the way the Framers of the Constitution believed in liberty, and we believe in “the progress of science and the useful arts” in the same way the Framers did.

Neither of those attitudes is, in literal language, “conservative.”

What did he say? I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything.

I'll look later. He said he used to go on FR until JimRob purged aggressive Giuliani people during the 2007-08 primaries Hannity was 100% for Rudy.

I’m unimpressed by many of the sites listd above FR, I never look at the others except occasionally Breitbart.

Lenin once said that the keystone in the arch of socialism is medicine. as long as obamacare remains, so will the keystone.

about this quote:

"Beck has constructed a universe where the U.S. is under siege by progressives plotting to transform the nation into a socialist or—worse—communist or fascist state. "

i'm not sure if most of us here agree with the above about Beck. yet it's my observation that obama is enacting a socialist near coup via legislation, policy & executive order.

beck is rather embarrassing to me at times, yet he has made public some vital facts about early U.S. history. refer to Beck's specific episodes on fox with David Barton. they were refreshing.
