I don’t think Obama, the Tea Party or the NRA had a thing to do with the timing on this one. Something has to be said and The President, even this one, is the guy to do it.
The logistics may be an issue, but these things are never convenient for anybody.
Was it ever determined that Obama received an actual invitation to the commemorations that were scheduled tonight anyway? In that case, it would be poor form NOT to go.
I’m glad you seem to have faith in his acting in the traditional Presidential role; given his track record, I guess I’m jaded as to his motives...
