Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has jumped into the fray of an ongoing controversy over a fast food chain's outspoken stance against same-sex marriage, standing behind the company, Chick-fil-A, for supporting "the Biblical view of marriage."
Huckabee, in a statement on his Facebook page, said he has been "incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld."
In a recent interview with the Baptist Press, Cathy said he was "guilty as charged" when asked about his "support of the traditional family."
"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that," he said in the interview. "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."
Amid controversy sparked by the comments - including vehement opposition from the Muppets - Huckabee defended the company, and even called for a "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day" this summer.

Men marrying women is the traditional (and dominant) law of the land. Where it has been put to a vote, the public has rejected same sex marriage overwhelmingly.
Mike Huckabee is a one time presidential contender (just as the antisemitic Al Sharpton is a former presidential contender) who has a daily talk show.
The members of the lavender mafia in the newsroom need to stop agitating and go back to reporting NEWS items.
I cast my vote for Chick Fil A this morning by going in and eating a breakfast there. I really did enjoy the Sausage/egg/cheese on a biscuit. First time in my life to eat there. I have previously purchased breakfast tacos to go, however. Excellent food, will go back.
I stopped at the Chick Fil A in Fairfield, CA this afternoon. About 25mins. from my home. Food was great, place was clean, help was friendly and there were close to 50 airmen in for lunch. (About 5 mins. from Travis AFB.) Whenever I’m in Fairfield, I’ll support their business.
Excellent post. The media and that includes all their gay friends who run Hollywood seem to forget the fact that most Americans when this is put to a vote side with traditional marriage including the majority of Hispanic and Blacks and voters who are raised here from middle eastern descent. The last three groups are mostly liberal dems in voting except on gay issues and sometimes abortion.
I made the mistake of reading some of the comments on the link to this posting. I have been on this earth not quite as long as Moses but certainly for a whole lot of years. Could someone please tell me just exactly how did our society get to the depth of decay reflected by some of the comments.
I don’t approve of the LGBT philosophy or lifestyle but it is they who will stand before God at judgment day. I just simply do not understand why it must be their way or no way.
Huckabee is calling on his Facebook page for everybody to support CF on August 1 by patronizing the restaurant.
Their spicey chicken bisquit on the breakfast menu is delicious.
They are wonderful! All of the chicken biscuits are out of this world. I normally stop for breakfast because I only get 30 minutes for lunch and the place is bursting at the seams at lunch. LOL
I’ve noticed the same thing in my area. When they 1st opened their stand alone(seperate from shopping mall eatery) restuarants several years ago, I wondered if they would thrive, but the one near me is always packed at lunch and dinner and the clientel is noticeably above average.
The Gay Nazis are a powerful force in the Media and left. Now that they have some power they will use it to impose their view and lifestyle on to the rest of us. Soon, the Gay lifestyle will be forced as “normal” and their form of love accepted. It has ripped apart churches and ended careers in politics. No one is brave enough to stand against them and if you do you will pay a price and face shunning, job loss and maybe assault. Old saying comes to mind—’Give them an inch and they think their a ruler.’
I worked 12 hours today and went through the drive-thru before I came home. All of the parking spaces were full and the line was all the way around the building for the drive-thru at 8:00pm.
