Better to have them leaning up against the wall, or on gun racks in easy reach. Always good to have 1 concealed on person at all times (not AK pattern of course). An unloaded and locked gun is nothing more than a club in an emergency situation.

I hear ya. They're quite accessible. I have magazines loaded for each weapon. The only concession to safety is to not have the magazines inserted in those rifles. I am well practiced in loading them and shooting them, of course. However, my pistols are loaded and ready to go. Funny that you should mention not concealing the ak pistol... I could do that lawfully and dimensionally if I wanted...
