Conservatives in increasing numbers are moving away from their decades-long support for long prison terms for criminals.
Depends on the crime. Violent criminals need very long, very strict sentences. Aside from that, all free men have the right to bear arms whether they've been in jail or not.

Big Law Enforcement’s prosecutors, officers and defense attorneys aren’t about to give up the BLE cash cow without a fight. BLE probably makes up about 5% of the US economy, I would guess.

Long prison sentences?
We’ve always wanted short, fast, executions.

So just as facts have prompted liberals to abandon stricter gun control, facts seem to be persuading conservatives to abandon tough anti-crime laws they once championed."Just the facts ma'am."

This is good to hear. The Prison State is very expensive for the taxpayers, and often inhumane to non-violent offenders. Moving those who are not dangerous out of the prison system makes more room for those who are truly dangerous. It’s common sense...don’t know why it took so long for people to realize it.
