I doubt that 1 AR15 has been sold here.
A fully automatic military assault rifle?
Or something that looks like one without the auto feature?
Same thing with the AK
From wikipedia:
“The select-fire AR-15 entered the US military system as the M16 rifle. Colt then marketed the Colt AR-15 as a semi-automatic version of the M16 rifle for civilian sales in 1963.[8] The name “AR-15” is a Colt registered trademark, which refers only to the semi-automatic rifle.”

That's quite different than the case of the AK-47, where there was no separately designated semi-auto-only version for decades.
Contrary to widely held belief by liberals, it is not illegal to own full auto firearms or suppressors. It's not even illegal to own belt fed full auto with no select feature for single shot. All that is required is a $200 tax stamp issued by the BATFE. You can create a revokable trust that is also transferrable (temporarily or permanent by inheritance) and use that as the vehicle to bypass rigid local law enforcement who may otherwise be required for signature of permission. Very few police chiefs in any metro area will sign such a document without risking a public lynching in the press for no reason. In all the time since this system took effect (70+ years) only one crime has been committed by a man with such a weapon AND the stamp and HE was a police officer who had access to such weapons, anyway! Tell me gun control is about the instruments and not about control of the law abiding.
Pedantic.
AR15 = semi-auto version of the M16.
Yes the gun originally dubbed “AR15” was originally full auto. Terms change over time, just as “films” are digitally rendered now, “batteries” are portable electric storage devices, etc.
And you know it, so stop trying to confuse & muddle an already contentious issue.
Sorry, didn’t realize this was a resurrected thread.
