“CNN needs new thinking,” Walton wrote in a note to staff this morning. “I have interests to explore, I need to give myself time to do [them].”

See various quotes and his note after the jump…

From CNN PR: Jim Walton told the CNN organization today that he will step down as president of CNN Worldwide at the end of this year. He will continue in his current role until that time. Jim’s decision has the support and respect of Turner Broadcasting CEO Phil Kent. Phil will lead the search for Jim’s successor. Employee note from Jim Walton is below as well as statements from Phil Kent and Jeff Bewkes.

Jim Walton note to staff:

After more than 30 years at this company and nearly 10 years as the leader of this great news organization, I have decided to leave my role at CNN on December 31, 2012.

If they merged with MSLSD they might actually have a customer base. As it is, the ratings of both of them are in the toilet, but then so is their sense of humor.

“Wonder which Black, female, homosexual they replace him with?”

Condi?

Anyone here who was happy a couple of weeks ago at the prospect of her being VP should be overjoyed at the idea!

It takes awhile for news to get from Charlottesville to Walton Mountain.

“So who does that leave for CNN? “

I think there is a big market for actual reporting. There’s plenty of material out there to work on.

Too bad it isn’t going to happen at CNN.

...Keith Olberman...

While it is enjoyable to see great minds arriving at identical solutions at the very same time, putting that goof in charge of anything at CNN but going for lattes would be like tossing a grenade into a hen house.

...nothing but lots of noise, then feathers and chickensh** flying everywhere.

Unfortunately, now MSNBC actually gets better ratings than CNN. That’s disturbing and a change I only realized a few months ago.

“16 posts before a gratuitous “Waltons” reference? We’re slipping.”

Indeed.

Everyone, watch you some Olympics - any sport.

Maybe by example, we can get our MOJO Gold back!

G’night, Jim-Boy.

(Hope this isn't a duplicate post - personal MOJO off kilter. Sorry.)

‘So as to encourage CNN to place a more far left leaning Lib at the helm? I don’t accept that he made this decision on his own, at this time.’

So, Obama and his posse, nationalize CNN. Puts its own puppet in charge and he and his minions will have their own Pravda.

But, it is only for the people.

And, CNN is too big to fail.
