"Meeting Evil" with Samuel L. Jackson, Luke Wilson, Leslie Bibb, Peyton List, Tracie Thoms, Ryan Lee, Muse Watson, Jillian Batherson, Tina Parker
A down-on-his-luck realtor, Luke Wilson, in a depressed area meets a seemingly crazy man, Samuel L. Jackson, who offers to help Luke to better his life. However, taking direction from strangers is never a grand idea. This is a creepy mystery with a twist, and it was enjoyable if a bit gory. We gave it ★★★★
"Dracula III: Legacy" (from 2005) with Jason Scott Lee, Stephen Billington, Diane Neal, Jason London, Rutger Hauer, Ilinca Goia, George Grigore, Roy Scheider, Tom Kane, Alexandra Wescourt
We loved this semi-STINKEROO, mainly because of Jason Scott Lee and Rutger Hauer (Dracula). Jason is a priest and a vampire hunter who is infected with the vampire virus, but he fights it off each morning at sunrise. He and a sidekick hunt for the master vampire (Rutger) and try to save the few humans left in his realm. We gave it ★★★★
"Doomsday Prophecy" with A.J. Buckley, Jewel Staite, Alan Dale, Bruce Ramsay, Rick Ravanello, Gordon Tootoosis, Matthew Kevin Anderson, Roseanne Supernault, Hiro Kanagawa, Jerry Wasserman
Another semi-STINKEROO, mainly because of the implausible behavior of the earthquake destruction as a result of poor CGG. It's 2012, and the prophecy of doom is about to come true when a young man discovers that he holds the key to saving the world. The military is very interested in obtaining the key, and he must avoid them while trying to figure out the mystery of exactly how he is to accomplish such a feat. We gave it ★★★
"Predators" with Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Carey Jones, Brian Steele, Derek Mears
Adrien Brody = NOT my favorite actor, but he did a good job here, and he was cut up like a body builder as well, not his wimpy, whiny, skinny usual self. This is a true sequel to "Predator," and I was surprised Arnold Schwarzenegger was not in it. A group of people awaken to find themselves in free fall over a jungle and must engage their parachutes before getting killed. At least one of them fails to do so. The rest soon discover that they're not in Kansas anymore, and in fact, they are on the Predators' home world in a game preserve where they are the game. It was really great, and Lawrence Fishburn had a small but important part which he handled to perfection. We gave it ★★★★
