If you're even a semi-regular BreakPoint listener, you've no doubt heard Chuck Colson -- and me -- talk about "breaking the spiral of silence."
We've warned about the dangers of remaining silent on critical issues even when our opinions are unpopular or counter-cultural -- probably especially when they're unpopular and counter-cultural. Even when it appears that the argument is "settled," that the public has "moved on," and we'd better "get with the program."
And we've pointed out that, sometimes, breaking the spiral of silence can come with a price.
Well, as you know by now, Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy said recently that his family-owned company "operates on biblical principles" and therefore "supports the traditional family."
He spoke out, and now he and Chick-fil-A are paying the price. Certain voices in the media and government are lashing out -- and seeking, basically, to intimidate and bully Chick-fil-A, and anyone who shares their views, back into silence.

Which is why, as Chuck would have said, the proponents of so-called gay "marriage" and sexual "freedom" are sawing off the branch they're sitting on. By doing all they can to deny those who disagree with them access to the public square, by their intimidation tactics, and by their -- sad to say, intolerance -- they are helping to make this country, this society less free. And that hurts everybody.
Folks, we have no choice but to speak out. Not to lash out, but to speak out, winsomely but firmly. We must break the spiral of silence.
I passed a C-f-A a couple of hours ago while out shopping and the parking lot was packed and the drive thru line was wrapped around the building.....guess that boycott is not working.....LOL
On the other hand we just spent several weeks attempting to totally duplicate their mustard based sauce AND SUCCEEDED.
We already figured out how to do their chicken.
That doesn't mean we're going commercial but their new store near us is usually quite busy, and the next nearest store is quite a ways away!
At the Chick fil A in Thornton, Colorado the drive thru was
overwhelmed with cars and they had to send out an employee to take orders in the parking lot. They need to send a thank you note to the gay lobby. :-)

This is so spot on, SoFlo. It can’t be said enough.
And yet, they point their fingers at conservatives & Believers, saying that we are the ones who are intolerant. Almost 80% of Americans identify themselves as Christians. Yet prayers have been removed from our schools, any depiction of Christianity is assailed in any public construction.
So much for their “democracy”.
I had never tried their menu before, but I liked my SW Salad. I'll be back, especially on Aug 1.
I used to work at CFA, it's common to have employees taking orders in the drive thru.
I keep visiting, they're just as busy as they ever were.
My wife and I ate in a Chick Fil A in north Knoxville, mid afternoon. Very long drive through line and dining room full. The way the kitchen staff (with Managers assisting) was working, I don’t think they could really have handled much more traffic. Gratifying to be able to be a small part of the “in your face” to the folks who would jab us in the face.
Looks like mayors in boston and nyc are getting the MESSAGE.
Assume for a moment they are correct, and test their "in your face" tactics with any other phobia. Find someone who's arachophobic (afraid of spiders) and then corner them and start throwing spiders at them. It won't take much of that for them to want to come out of that corner and pound the crap out of you, and you'd have it coming.
Liberals = Epic Fail. They want to destroy a business and cost people their jobs, in a down turn economy, because the CEO of the company believes like most Americans that Marriage is between a Man and a Woman as God intended. Just shows how that liberals do not care about the economy, how out of touch with society, and how hypocritical the liberal left really is on being tolerant and open minded towards other peoples point of view.
We had breakfast there this morning. It was excellent.
I hope Chick-Fil-A has employee profit sharing.
Their business is gonna boom.
(It’s not publicly traded, so no stock bonanza to play)
Meet S. Truett Cathy, The 91-Year-Old Billionaire Behind Chick-Fil-A
Pops and I both had the regular chicken sandwich meal today at 4:15.. placed jammed even through a severe thunderstorm
