It's No 'Gaffe'—Mitt Knows<br>How To Fix A Ruined Olympics
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 27 July 2012 | Editorial

Olympics: Mitt Romney has gotten blasted on all sides for questioning London's Olympic preparation. The overlooked fact is that Romney actually knows how to run an Olympics.

You would have thought Great Britain and the U.S. were in a crisis and recalling each others' ambassadors, given the overblown, overwrought windbaggery directed at Romney, who is making his first trip abroad as a Republican presidential candidate, with London as his first stop.

Someone asked him what he thought of London's Olympic preparations and he replied there could be reason for concern, citing reports of labor and security problems.

See, the London press had been writing quite a bit about these failures, but after Romney cited them he got pilloried in the very same media that reported the news.

It wasn't just them. Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid leaped in, ranting that Romney "insulted everybody." But so did respected pundits such as Charles Krauthammer, who called it "a gaffe."

Then there was the fury from conservative British politicians, such as London's Mayor Boris Johnson and Prime Minister David Cameron, who managed to hurl an insult at Romney's hometown as a place "in the middle of nowhere."

The hard fact remains: Mitt is a rock star among all people who have ever run the Olympics. They ought to listen to him, just as they listened to Peter Ueberroth.

He was too honest, and somewhat rude. It’s like going to someone’s new house and finding fault with it.

Maybe so but it was an unecessary political gaffe. He should have spoken like s statesman and said he assumes all the necessary preparations have been made and the event will be a success etc etc That is all he had to say. He is running for President not Olympics inspector. Actually I was susrprised by a gaffe like this from such a slick used car salesman.

“The overlooked fact is that Romney actually knows how to run an Olympics. “

The Mitt Plan to Fix the Olympics:

1. Eliminate mormon insider corruption
2. Set record for Federal funds
3. Set a record for earmarks
4. Make sure the boy scouts don’t wear uniforms

You seem to like Myth’s euphemisms.

FEES ==> really means taxes

FIX ===> really means taxes

RomneyCARE ===> government control of medicine
and death panels run by government, but not FOR
government people (or their staff or Moslems or Amish)
who destroyed American medicine, in the first place.

Prime Minister David Cameron, who managed to hurl an insult at Romney's hometown as a place "in the middle of nowhere."

The insult was to Salt Lake City, which if you've ever driven there (from any direction) is indeed pretty much "in the middle of nowhere."

However, not only is this not Romney's hometown, AFAIK he has never lived there.

My wife and I travel through SLC every year to visit one of our children in CA. Unique landscapes but that spaghetti bowl on I-80 has always been a challenge.

Not entirely sure what you mean by the spaghetti bowl, but the 25/70 intersection in Denver used to be a real doozy.

As everyone on this forum knows I am not a Romney fan at all, but he is right that these Olympics are not well prepared. They are going to lose their shirts. I didn't even know when or where the Olympics were going to be or when they were going to start until I started seeing threads on FR on the politically correct opening ceremonies.

I predict a major financial disaster for England and London and NBC.

Somebody let me know when they are over. I won't' be watching them.

WARNING - ANSWERING THE ANNOYING SPAMMER

1. Johnny One-Note
A one-hitter, possibly mentally disturbed spammer, who repeats the same tired mantra over and over. It’s used to described some shrill, tired ideologue or academic that pompously echoes some quaint notion or idea endlessly, who spams constantly, and who expects everyone to see his supposed wisdom and bow in concurrence. In reality, he a pitiful creature.

NOTE: if someone wants to cut and paste this, it would be good to post it every single time he posts his spam nonsense.
