Romney arrives, days after telling Israelis they deserve better than they get from Obama

Days after telling Israelis that they deserve better treatment than they have had from the United States during Barack Obama’s presidency, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney arrived in Israel on Saturday night for talks with Israeli leaders, a meeting with the Palestinian prime minister, and a fundraiser.

Just as candidate Obama did four years ago, challenger Romney is visiting Israel in good part to try to maximize support for his presidential campaign among American Jewish supporters. Sensitive bilateral issues will also be on the agenda, however, notably the shared US-Israel concern about how to thwart Iran’s nuclear drive.

Obama was a relatively unknown quantity to Israel at the time of his 2008 visit, but his Democratic Party has traditionally garnered the vast majority of US Jewish votes. Romney is a more familiar figure, but his Republican Party has found it difficult to change those US Jewish voting habits. Romney has promised that, if elected, he would visit Israel as his first overseas destination. Obama has not visited Israel as president.

A Gallup poll released Friday showed that American Jews support Obama over Romney by a margin of 68 to 25 percent. That’s a decline compared to the 78% support Obama won, according to exit polls, in the elections...

Look... I think as Jim Robinson alludes to, Romney is a slippery character. However, he would not be as viscerally vicious to Israel as the Messiah is, Just as he does not lob excrement (verbal and otherwise) on Conservatives as John McCain did in 2008 and still does.

Small consolations -- yes! But it is something....

First you don’t highlight your Billionaire status with a million dollar horsie in the Olympics and expect regular people to gasp in awe!! , Second you don’t bash the Brits for not being prepared at the Olympics. Third ,if you do bash the damned english ,stick to it!! Don’t beg for forgiveness and Fourth don’t pander to Israel after the defense act is signed by the communist obama. But finally, for God sake ,don’t go to POLAND??? Who the hell cares about Poland????You can’t make up what a fool this guy is!!!This campaign sucks and I will tell you right now ,this jack ass is going to blow a skillet shot.

Uhhh, exactly what "bashing" did he do?

He said:
“It’s hard to know just how well it will turn out,” Romney said on the eve of the games. He said a controversy over the level of security staffing was “disconcerting.”

Impolitic? Perhaps.

Honest? Yes.

Bashing? Puhleeze.

The Polish people know what oppression is about. They are some of the most freedom loving people in the world. I love Poland.

But you probably don’t know the history of Poland as you just signed up in June 2012. Stick around. You may learn something about world history.

The horse complaining newbie, class warfare jerk deserves a zot. The most I herd is a fat Jack Russell terrier, but I don’t deny Romney his money.

People that try to extinguish the American dream truly stink, and probably in more ways than one. I smell an Obamaite living on one form of welfare or another.

It's frustrating to see Freepers one by one embraces reality of having Romney as the only alternative to 0bama, isn't it? But, then, truth is not always easy to handle. Two stubborn facts stay: (1) Romney, for all his problems, is better than 0bama. At least the probability of the country going straight to socialism is less than one. With four more years of zero, the probability is one. If he won, Romney would try to win a second term, which mean he probably will listen to a more conservative Congress. (2) Romney won the primaries. There are many reasons for this, including not-so honest attacks on Romney's campaign part, but the main reason is this: conservatives failed to come up with one candidate that with 30-40% Romney could emerge the winner. The way I see it, it's not the success of Romney campaign. It's the failure of conservatives.

It’s none of your business what working people do with their money. It’s their money, not yours. Leave the envy and class warfare to the liberals. I mentioned this to you yesterday but you still don’t get it.

BTW, I care about Poland.

Well, you are the only one that deserves enlightenment from your well written but wrong answer. Romney was a socialist. Was and is. He is the father of socialized medicine and the insurance mandate. He sucks. He ran against 6 conservatives and because of liberals and cross over demorats he “won”. Well, he didn’t win me!! I will not vote and I did’nt vote for Mc Amnwsty and there are 2 million of us. So swallow this idiot. I assure you ,I will not.Either the Republicans— My Party will run off these socialist or they will continue to fade into oblivion.

“My targets have been bad lately, but this one stinks to high heaven.”

If, by “this one”, you mean “marygonzo”, I believe you are right on target.

It is amazing how many things someone can get wrong in one short paragraph.

Without the freedom loving people of Poland, Reagan & Thatcher might not have succeeded in defeating the Evil Empire.

The world owes a debt to the Poles.
