Is California the welfare capital?
San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | July 28, 2012 | Michael Gardner

Posted on 07/28/2012 6:17:23 PM PDT by South40

Sacramento — When Gov. Jerry Brown and the Legislature overhauled the state’s welfare program last month, some people learned a jarring fact for the first time: California has one-third of the nation’s welfare recipients.

That California has a lot of people on welfare was not a secret. In addition to its size, the state has a long history of heavy focus on social services, in part because of years of Democratic dominance in Sacramento.

But the size of California’s welfare rolls is disproportionate when you consider the state has only 12 percent of the nation’s population.

Thank you illegals. Now where are the Democrats going to get all the money they want?

The annual budget for the city of San Francisco, pop. 900,000, is 6.8 billion. The same as for the city of Chicago and Los Angeles. When the panhandlers ask me for money I tell them “ Go to the SF civic center, that’s where my money is.”

They know if it happened once , it will happen again.

Some one will sign off on amnesty soon.

Smartest move a party ever did was flood the nations largest electoral state with illegals.

When the panhandlers ask me, "Can you give me some money?" I tell them I already have.

California was once the country’s wealthiest state. Thanks to bizarre Democrat policies it is now essentially bankrupt. Don’t ever say those Hollywood producers don’t make films that reflect what they see around them. Those vampire movies are like California itself. Walking dead beautiful zombies. If Obama is reelected you can be sure he’ll be taxing the rest of us heavily to bail out his bizarre loyal California constituents.

It was happening before the illegals showed up.

California was famous nationally for welfare, even back in the 1960s, and people moved here for it.

I live here also. Not only is it a third world welfare state, but the morons running it are hell-bent on making it worse.

The leftist-lature and governor recently passed laws that will give instate tuition and financial aid to ILLEGAL aliens! The state is broke but it's still bent on giving freebies to non-citizens?! How stupid must you be to not know that you cannot give away money that you don't have?!

California used to be a great state. But now I cannot wait to escape this pisshole.

Or, will we look more like Mexico?

Back then the state was in the black, and doing rather well. The libs wished to share the largesse with the "less fortunate."

It soon dawned on them that this would buy votes, and now we have 1/3 of welfare recipients, and for the first time ever, as of last Summer, more people employed by the public sector than private.

Ain't life grand?

It was really something once, but the people never had heart, they were always depending on it's geography, it's natural attributes, and the times, no thought was ever given to who they were as a people, or to the future, or to anything other than “today” and “getting mine” and live and let live until it was too late and they found themselves permanently in the grasp of liberalism and it's never ending death spiral.

In the late 1980s they started flocking to Minnesota and Wisconsin, the article says that people will not travel for welfare, but that is a bald faced lie.

Democrat leadership in California (mayors, legislators, govenors, etc.) are intentionally taxing and spending the state into failure. Why? Well, if Goldman Sachs is too big to fail, California will surely be bailed out by the rest of us. It is intentionally being done. Let the 5th biggest economy in the world and let it fail? Europe won't allow Italy, Greece, France, or any of the others fail,...they calculate we will not allow California. In other words, Jerry Brown is intentionally enslaving your children and grandchildren so he can live profligately and get one more damn vote.

The same thing is true of the dems in Washington. They are intentionally bankrupting the US government so they can come in and reconstitute the social compact, which will include a one world currency, according to Sarcozy. All of this destruction of wealth is planned by the left. It will take a few years and a few more exegencies. But once they get the majority of the purblics' mind right,...it will come.

California has one-third of the nation’s welfare recipients.

California lawmakers and politicians have such a big heart. They take care of people, from cradle to grave.

So, why not make them have a bigger heart.

Let's have all the other states ship their welfare recipients to California, and, the other states can prosper, while Californians show how bighearted they are.

As Rush said the other day, it doesn’t LOOK much different from how it looked thirty years ago. Except in the central valley where they rationing the water. The middle class is slipping away, but that is a slow process, and the ruin won’t be evident for another decade or more, at the present rate. California is less the golden state than the gilded state.

26 million on food stamps, 8 million on disability, 22 million federal employees, 1 million in the military , 300 thousand California state employees, 600 thousand California teachers, 300 thousand retired California teachers, 100 billion high speed rail to no where and 12 - 20 million illegals. Paying for all this is a quagmire that can not be solved. The whole system is going to fail hard and ugly . You do not want to be anywhere near California when this blows up.

Trying to get out of here just got harder because they passed legislation to prevent banks from kicking the deadbeat out of their foreclosed homes. They estimate that it will cost the banks 30 k in legal fees and the deadbeats can live in the house for several years without making a payment. No one will want to lend money here for mortgages.

It certainly is a lie, Somalis in Georgia actually did research to find the next best state in terms of welfare to migrate to, and moved to Lewiston Maine, overwhelming its resources. They actually moved from a temperate-climate state to a cold one in order to further their parasitic and violent lifestyle. No doubt they’ll be researching their next host once they kill their present one.

No it really does, less fruit and vegetable crops, more vineyards, lots of empty buildings, and all cities have a little Tijuana, with all the buildings painted, bright oranges, yellows greens and red, thats just for starters, lots of fertile farm land turned in to retail, not a pretty sight. Spanish billboards, Graffiti everywhere, even on freeway overpasses. Public restrooms in both languages, on and on.

Banks are still lending, because they are selling the mortgage s to Freddie and Fannie. And they don’t care about the foreclosure problems.
In fact..foreclosures are going so slow that it is hard to find houses to buy in some neighborhoods(the ones that still have good demographics and schools). People with credit and money snap up the decent properties.

I rarely differ with Rush, but CA does look a lot different now than 30 years ago. We were gone from the state most of that time..while we owned a house here, but came back every year and watched the evolution. We now have a hispanic crowd dominating our little local park...some of the Malls are mainly hispanic customers. My regular check ups at a SoCal hospital has turned into a zoo with mostly hispanic’s crowding the facility. Maybe the Country Clubs haven’t changed, but for the average middle class..the state is now half third world.

Well, Ruch is definitely part of the country club set. Plus he lived in Sacramento. Myself I can tell you that LAX really looks rundown compared with the way it looked in 1973. Compare it with the new Hong Kong airport? dumpy.
