#NBC Fail: Network's Olympic Disaster Earns Global Social Media Mockery
twictcy.com ^ | Sunday July 29,2012 | Twitcy.Com

NBC has united the world…in scorn, contempt, and mockery of its gaffe-plagued, stone-age Olympics coverage. Cutting the tribute to the 7/7 London Islamic terror victims from the network’s opening ceremonies coverage was just the tip of the iceberg.

Yesterday, the #NBCFail hashtag erupted worldwide and showed no signs of let-up. Ridiculous tape delays, news/programming spoilers, arrogant tweets from former NPR executive-turned-NBC chief digital officer Vivian Schiller, geographic errors, and streaming woes have earned the peacock network global social media mockery.

“Don’t plan on watching but a few, if any events.”
Woman’s beach volley ball never gets old. It gets my full concentration. Ha Ha.

Are they showing the medal ceremonies?

NBC did show the medal ceremony for swimmer Lochte because Phelps was knocked out of the top 3.

[I wouldn't expect too many of those presentations in the coming days -- the audicity! they played The National Anthem. Media won't like that being played very many times.]

Watched our gals yesterday and the horrific British weather for these “summer” Olympics had reduced the appeal of that sport a bit. (T-shirts)

I still haven't forgiven NBC for cancelling Star Trek, to their everlasting regret, back in 1969.

It's useful to remember that, despite the hype, most people are not watching the Olympics. It's hard to believe, but most people don't watch the Superbowl, either.

Most people, even in the United States, were not watching Neil Armstrong step off the foot of the LM, 43 years ago.

I certainly was, and I was still watching when Harrison Schmitt and Gene Cernan left Taurus Littrow in 1972.

But it's useful to remember whenever one hears the "all eyes were on" this or that trope, that it just ain't so.

That NBC carried the opening ceremony was just another reason to successfully ignore the whole mess, with no regrets. I'm a minor anglophile, but from what I heard about the British opening ceremony, I'm glad not to now be in regret over the lost hours sitting through the taped delay, punctuated with the administration's campaign ads.

Why should I subject myself to that kind of abuse? I mean, come on.... dancing nurses, performing some sort of ballet with gurneys and sick kids, "celebrating" socialized medicine, all of it opening to the theme from The Exorcist?

The British press bragging about successfully getting the first lesbian kiss on Saudi television?

That's showing those muggies, boy!

I can't think of anything I'll enjoy joining with the majority of American in missing more... except maybe the nominating conventions.

NBC is getting ripped "globally" and this former head of NPR and now Chief Digital Officer of NBC first comment is . . .

"the medal for most Olympic whining goes to everyone complaining about what happens every 4 yrs, tape delay"

Wow . . . very unpleasant.

Interesting how she also tweets how NPR is hiring lobbyist to fight those evil GOP members targeting public broadcasting funds.

Arrogant *itch. Typical of the “know it all’s” on the LSM and East Coast Elitists.

Love it and proud of the US women.

Didn’t hear about that. What kind of dress code?

I read it.

I contrasted it in my own mind with the story of Luz Long. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luz_Long

Long was a Dusseldorf lawyer, who finished second to Jesse Owens at the 1936 Nazi games. After the standings were posted, and Owens took a victory lap around the stadium, Long ran along side of him and looped his arm around Owen's waist, to rabid cheers from the crowd. In Long's last letter to Owens before the War, he asked Jesse, if he had the opportunity after the War to meet his son, to tell him how it could be among men on this earth.

Long was injured in the Allied invasion of Sicily and died in a British military hospital.

In the 1950’s Owens wrote a letter to Long's son and told him how his father had helped to keep him from being disqualified during the initial heats of the long jump. The story is almost certainly apocryphal, but it says something positive about Jesse Owens, as well as Herr Long.

I have absolutely no interest or inclination to watch the Olympics this year.

Typically sickening behavior by another “International” organization. From the UN to the Nobel Committee to the IOC, I have no use for any of them. I’ll throw in NBC with their PC palavering in place of actually showing the events.

From your link:

“Now, I have a message to all the members of the IOC. The torture inflicted by “Black September” on the 11 Israeli athletes and their families took 48 hours. Your torture of the families and the memories of those esteemed athletes has lasted 40 years. I am not satisfied with a moment of silence in every Opening Ceremony of the Summer Games. Now I want all of you to lose your jobs and be replaced by real Olympians who care about the athletes and believe in the Olympic charter.”

When I read the details in the murder of Ilana Romano and the subsequent response of these animals . . .

For those not having read nor going to link, this is kind of animals we are dealing with . . .

"Then Ilana Romano burst out with a cry that has haunted me to this day.

She screamed at Gilady, "How DARE you! You KNOW what they did to my husband! They let him lay there for hours, dying slowly, and then finished him off by castrating him and shoving it in his mouth,"

Where is the outrage? Please, I wish all no longer view these Olympics till humans become part of the organization.

What do you expect, NBC is owned by Comcast, God and competence have no place in that company, they worship at the alters of “diversity is our strength” and other progressive ideals!

My daughter tweeted, “Is this Bob Costas last Olymics? Does he just want it to be his last?”

Who's to say that isn't exactly what the socialism-pushing Obumma-Jarrett regime wants? We can't have competition in the world! It leads to discrimination and intolerance!

Besides that, no matter how much they have sucked up to Barry and his bunch over the past four years, NBC is going to get thrown under the bus just like all the others when they are no longer useful to the totalitarian "cause".

Yes, and it's not "fair" either than some win and other's don't. How long before we hear "you didn't win that" from ODumbass - targeting some athlete that might exhibit just a hint of non-PC thinking.

The “opening ceremony” was a spoof circus act, not visually interesting and way too complicated in story telling for a global narrative.

Then to turn on the TV to watch the most anticipated event Phelps vs Lochte I find at 11:30 on a Saturday PST that I am shown the semi finals that I already read about on the net and scrambled to get a newsfeed or live feed in which I had to set up my account on U-Verse by the time i spent 10 minutes on the 800 # I got the race with one lap left and virtually over.... The biggest American race and we Americans are told to tune in tonight and watch the replay...? ARE U KIDDING! I watch MLB after that!
