Frankly, Pat, you need to tell him what you told us.
Say it matter of factly, without emotion, and it will be up to him to decide if you’re being truthful or not. I could see how he’d be mistaken by the idea some of the pols are there because you asked them to, but tell him you knew nothing of that. If he decides you aren’t being honest after that, then he’s just not being fair.
Well thanks AB. I suppose that the fact that all these politicians showed up, I dunno, Father Sam must have thought I had something to do with it.
We’ll see if the issue comes up again. But let me tell you of another scene, happened that same night.
After the initial shout and the apology, I was walking around, talking to people, that sort of thing. I chance to walk by the politico who just happened to run to fill Mike Castle’s seat in 2008, name is Glen Urquhart. He ran with Christine O’Donnell but didn’t get her notoriety. However Urquhart is a major politician around these parts, now running for a STATE senator position, same election district as my church.
Up to Urquhart walks Father Sam, he throws his arms over Urquhart’s shoulders and loudly talks and jokes around. I was standing by and Father Sam leans over to me and says something to the effect that’s he’s known Urquhart for many years and something about him being an Episcopalian. I dunno, I just dunno. But if Father Sam wanted to avoid politicians what the hey is he doing with all this love of one of Sussex county’s biggest politicos?
Those politicians showed up, as they do for many such events, and there was nothing stopping them. And Father Sam, witness example above but there were more, didn’t avoid them or anything.
You got me. I stand by my assertion that the Catholic church and its members are dealing with this administration’s attack on it and are just, at times, confused and I dunno, worried maybe.
