At the end of a long day of testimony, Roger Morris of Luna County, Customs and Border Patrol 24.5 years and 3 years on the Border Task Force, was sworn in and testified under oath.

Under direct examination:

Roger Morris testified he has been at New Deal a number of times since they opened the store some 15-18 years ago. He testified he went there 7-8 times a year and found all of the Reeses friendly.

Roger Morris testified in August of 2011, he ran into Rick and Terri Reese at the John Deere Parts House in Deming, when he was buying parts. He testified Rick and Terri were there and he went up to them and said “hi”.

Roger Morris testified that Rick asked him if he wanted to go to Mexico to go shooting.

Roger Morris testified that Rick told him that Rick had met a cartel leader and invited him to go shooting with Rick in Casa Grande. Roger Morris asked if he could shoot a 50 caliber gun, and testified that Rick told him yes and all kinds of guns.

Roger Morris testified he has his receipt from John Deere.

Under cross examination by Attorney Robert Gorence:

Mr. Gorence asked if Mr. Morris was working with Agent Pacheco at the time HSI was trying to secure evidence against the entire Reese family. Roger Morris testified that his role was ongoing and that he assisted Pacheco as needed, but he had no specific tasks. Roger Morris testified he conducted surveillance towards the end of the case, two times, and his records are in the file, but he doesn’t know the dates. When asked what dates, Roger Morris testified he didn’t know, and wouldn’t venture a ballpark time frame.

Mr. Morris testified he purchased guns from New Deal, maybe two, and filled out the required ATF 4473 form.

Mr. Morris testified the entire encounter in the John Deere store lasted maybe 4-5 minutes. He stated two people were working there but doesn’t know if they overheard the conversation.

When asked if he had ever interacted in a social personal manner with Rick Reese outside of the store, or had lunch with him, Roger Morris testified that he had not. Roger Morris testified he had seen him briefly at Walmart or gun shows, and that most of law enforcement hung out at New Deal. He testified he has shot at the New Deal range.

When asked if during his encounter with Rick at John Deer if Rick ever told him he smuggled weapons or sold weapons to straw purchasers, or participated in illegal activity…………. Roger Morris testified under oath that Rick knew who he worked for and it would be dumb for Rick to say he was doing illegal things.

RECAP:

Roger Morris testified Rick invited him to go to Mexico to shoot all kinds of (ILLEGAL in Mexico) weapons including a 50 caliber weapons in Casa Grande.

Roger Morris testified under oath that Rick knew who he worked for and it would be dumb for Rick to say he was doing illegal things.

Hmmm... people go to Mexico and do things that are illegal in Mexico, but not illegal in the United States...

This guy makes no sense whatsoever. Why would he invite someone he just met to go to Mexico to shoot illegal guns? Especially when he could shot them legally here in the US. Hopefully the jury sees through this but given the types that usually end up on juries I kind of doubt it.

mt is posting new threads for each witness. The same way the author of the articles does.

Just because you don’t recognize the connection to the Fast and Furious investigation, the Reese trial and protection of your 2nd Amendment rights, that is not mt’s fault.
