Hardly an argument against senate confirmation, there were very few Federal positions period when the Constitution went into effect.
The way I see it, the more time the Senate spends arguing over whether or not to approve the Presidents man, the less time they spend voting away our rights, dollars, and freedom.
Unfortunately, the article points out that these positions are so far down the totem pole that there is no arguing over appointing them in any case, just rubber-stamping. It also points out whole agencies wherein everyone is approved by the Senate.
