How does a Catholic -- trying to do what's best for oneself and one's children -- respond to the comments of this bishop? His statements regarding political neutrality sound like so much more cockamamie crap that's gotten us into the mess we're in. Give me those oh-so-few-and-far-between clerics who stand at the pulpit and call evil by its name! Damn this naive "we're all in this together" garbage -- anyone who understands where we are as a culture and a nation KNOWS THAT IS NOT SO!!!!

He did much of the organizing behind Prop 8, the true marriage proposition which the people did pass. His first job is to make the diocese safe for conservatives and for more Latin Masses. He must make changes in the Chancery Office, but he must work with the priests who are in the diocese. It is a very tough job. And he does call evil by its name, read his previous comments on SSM.

Please pray for him, I cannot stress enough how big a target he is, he will not be safe in SF.

If you listen carefully, I think you will find that the people the Archbishop was saying are “all in this together” are Catholic and non-Catholic Christians. He is not saying that believers, Pelosi, and Obama are “all in this together.” He knows that Pelosi and Obama are the enemies of the Church and of all Americans.

The Church is not “political” in the sense that it is not an instrument of any political party. The Church speaks with its own authority.

The Church condemns everything the Democratic Party promotes. But the Church is not campaigning on behalf of Republicans. It merely points out the obvious truth that anyone who votes for a Democrat, given the current nature of the Democratic Party, is going to Hell.
