This is a philosophy that REALLY can save America
Chalcedon Foundation ^

Sovereignty is an attribute of God alone, not of man nor the state. God alone is Lord or Sovereign over all things; over state, school, family, vocations, society and all things else.

The Bible is given as the common law of men and nations and was for most of U. S. History the common law, as Justice Story declared.

Salvation is not by politics, education, the church, or any agency or person other than Jesus Christ our Lord.

The myth of Machiavelli, that, by state control at the top, bad men can make a good society is at the root of our cultural crisis and growing collapse. A good omelet cannot be made with bad eggs. Truly redeemed men are necessary for a good society.

This was just pointed out to me. I have yet to see a better short description of what it REALLY means to be a conservative CHRISTIAN. This short summary of a longer work ought to be printed on posters and t-shirts! The REAL problem with this country is not taxes or even the deficit. The REAL problem is SIN and our leaders who have turned against God! Put God back into government and everything else takes care of itself! Make America once again the CHRISTIAN REPUBLIC it was founded to be!

We have a moral crisis in this nation. It will destroy us as it has any other civilization throughout history.
It started when the Ten Commandments were removed from the town square and replaced with moral equivolence and laws made on the whims of men.

First of all let me make clear that I am a Theocrat, so my objection to this particular article is not based on liberalism of any kind.

The Chalcedon Foundation is the font of the so-called "chrstian reconstruction" movement, which teaches a Protestant pseudo-theocracy. Protestant reconstructionism (dominionism), along with Feeneyite and sedevacantist Catholicism, represent the twin theologies of the John Birch Society and its satellite organizations (full disclosure: I was a member of the JBS from 1977 to 1981).

The Mosaic Law applies to Israel (the Jewish People) alone. It will be restored fully in a national sense when Mashiach HaMelekh appears.

Non-Jews--all non-Jews--are bound to obey the Noachide Laws. That is the only authentic Theocracy for non-Jews.

In addition to the above, Reconstructionists tend to be very anti-Israel, perhaps because they regard the United States as the "divinely"-ordained "new Israel." This type of national religion is nothing but henotheistic idolatry pretending to be a universal religion.

This is to call your attention to an article advocating the "reconstructionism" of Rousas J. Rushdoony's Chalcedon Foundation (see my post #6). Please understand that I am not calling for it to be removed or its poster to be banned . . . I am not. (Shoot, I'm the biggest weirdo on this forum!) However, I do want FReepers to be aware of "reconstructionism" when they see it and decide if they want this philosophy on Free Republic.

Yup. There is no salvation to to be found in any mortal or political party. America stands a far better chance of being saved if we seek our own personal salvation.

Do you have video of that?

About 60 years worth!

We had over 200 years as a Christian oriented society.

We have had a little over 50 of Godless wandering.

Look at where we were, and look at where we are now.

Interesting perspective. My bottom line is that this is a Christian nation that ought to be run as such — under Biblical law. You have thought this through to a level of detail I had not considered.

Thanks so much for the ping, Zionist Conspirator.

Dominion theology is Satan's eschatalogical alternative for those who hate Scripture as it is written and have manufactured their own scenario whereby the Holy Bible is discarded and what God tells us will happen with regard to the millennial kingdom of Christ is dismissed and narcissists with clinical delusions of grandeur have themselves in this manufactured scenario "Christianizing" the world and thereby making the world "ready" for Christ to set up His kingdom which, of course, robs Christ of His deserved honor and glory.

It is totally contradictory to Scripture, and therefore demonic.

From What is dominion theology / theonomy / Christian Reconstructionism?:

"Dominion theology / Christian reconstructionism is largely based upon a post-millennial view of covenantalism. Post-millennial refers to the belief that Christ will return to earth after the thousand year reign of God's kingdom, and covenantalism refers to the belief that biblical history is divided into three major covenants supposedly described in Scripture—of redemption, of works, and of grace. Adherents believe that we currently exist under the covenant of grace, and that the Church has replaced the nation Israel, and are now in the millennial Kingdom of God. Man, under the covenant of grace, is responsible to rule the world, to hold dominion over it, in obedience to the Laws of God."

"The problem with these beliefs is that they rest upon a distorted view of Scripture. Scripture clearly teaches a premillennial view of the Kingdom of God (Zechariah 14:4-9; Matthew 25:31-34), the "covenant of grace" is an extra-biblical construct, Israel and the Church are distinct throughout biblical history and prophecy, and God never commanded the Church to revamp society. Instead, believers are commanded to preach the Gospel as in Matthew 28:19, 20), but God clearly intends to implement world-wide reform Himself (Revelation 19:11-20:4). Though it is clearly unbiblical, dominion theology persists. It is, in fact, a great threat to biblical Christianity. Once at home solely within Reformed circles, dominion theology and Christian reconstructionism is now creeping into many Protestant churches and is making a large impact on the beliefs of Charismatic churches in particular."

"As with any new teaching we are exposed to, we need to be like the Bereans of Acts 17:11: "And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul's message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to check up on Paul and Silas, to see if they were really teaching the truth." Dominion theology / Christian reconstructionism doesn't align with what we read in the Scriptures. Although this is just a "nutshell" summary of dominion theology, the points made are very clear. Dominion theology is not a theology for a believer to live by, but rather one to avoid."

Here is an excellent article on the false doctrine and anti-Biblical belief of Dominionism.

This false doctrine also holds to the anti-Biblical belief of replacement theology which alone shines the light on reconstructionism as one of the "doctrines of demons" which will grow stronger and more numerous the closer we get to the return of Christ.

Thank you for your response, GionvannaNicoletta.

I realize that you and I have very different religious beliefs, and it was not my intent to call for or encourage banning reconstructionists or reconstructionism from FR. Certainly a forum with Swedenborgians, mormons, and Noachides (like me!) can handle having reconstructionists on board as well.

HOWEVER--I am afraid that most American chrstians are unfamiliar with reconstructionism and can't tell the difference between it and standard Fundamentalist Protestantism. Certainly it is in the interests of reconstructionists to encourage this confusion, since Fundamentalist Protestants with very different theological beliefs can be misled into thinking reconstructionists are exactly like them when they are not. I hope any reconstructionists who join FR will be open and above-board about their vast differences with more conventional Fundamentalist Protestantism.

One reason for my posting on this thread is that I am a former member of the John Birch Society, and reconstructionism is the crypto-official Protestant theology of the JBS (its crypto-official Catholic theologies are Feeneyism and sedevacantism). This is also the crypto-official theology of JBS fronts such as the Constitution Party. Many, many good FReepers are not aware of the theological beliefs of the CP and I hope they will educate themselves. Whether they vote for the CP or not is up to them, but they should at least recognize what they are getting into. FReepers may perhaps recall that in the last election cycle the CP chose Chuck Baldwin over Alan Keyes because Keyes was too pro-Israel (though I believe Mr. Baldwin is theologically pro-Israel personally, he doesn't bring this with him in his CP campaigns). However, I've heard that the rank and file of the CP is more pro-Israel than its reconstructionist leadership, and I believe in one election the very pro-Israel former Congressman Bob Dornan ran as a CP candidate.

At any rate, Rushdoonyism is most certainly the preferred Protestant theology of the JBS and its fronts. The JBS at one time "unofficially" promoted a book entitled The Rapture Cult which speculated that Zionism and pro-Zionist Fundamentalism are part of "the conspiracy." The full text of this book is available online.

The late Congressman Larry McDonald (JBS President at the time of his death in the downing of KAL 007) was very much a reconstructionist and his independent Presbyterian denomination had an office specifically for liason with the state in the legislation of what it understood to be Biblical Law. (Again, I do not point this out because I am a secularist or even because I believe the First Amendment applies to state governments. I do not. I point this out because this is so radically different from how most American evangelical Protestants operate.)

Again, thank you for your input and clarification. One thing I do not want is for anyone to interpret my initial post as done out of secular or liberal beliefs.
