Chick-Fil-A Gay Flap A 'Wakeup Call' For Companies
NPR ^ | 7/27/12 | Elise Hu

Posted on 08/01/2012 6:27:34 AM PDT by DallasBiff

Americus Reed, a marketing professor at University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School who studies brand loyalty, says Cathy underestimated what might happen once his comments to a niche religious publication and a syndicated radio show spread to a wider audience.

"I think this is part of the wake-up call for companies to understand that social media makes these decisions very, very risky," Reed said, "because it's much easier now for these messages to get out to consumers and consumers to virtually organize."

Poor, poor delusional liberals. Chick-Fil-A is going to prosper because of liberal nazi like rhetoric, while JC Penny is shedding jobs.

They will never learn.

“It is, therefore, very very risky to speak the Truth,” cautions NPR. As always, the libs choose obfuscation and not standing for anything over living a righteous life.

Appeasement of social media - bad choice for a moral compass.

I agree with this statement.

I suspect Cathy will be quite surprised by the large amount of sales this is going to generate from supporters.

This professor's students ought to demand a refund. He does not understand marketing.

Chick-Fil-A Supporters To Turn Out For ‘Appreciation Day’
http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/08/01/chick-fil-a-supporters-to-turn-out-for-appreciation-day/

The culture clash over Chick-Fil-A could come to a head on Wednesday, with supporters in Chicago and around the country turning out for an “appreciation day” first proposed by former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.

Nationwide as of Wednesday morning, about 582,000 people planned to go to a Chick-Fil-A location and order something for Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day.

Let’s wait for the sales numbers to come out before we put the cart before the horse, professor.

This clown doesn't get it. Cathy has principles and I'm sure is aware that it will cost him some sales, but placed his convictions before the profit altar. I normally don't eat at Chick-Fil-A, but I will now. It's not that I'm anti-gay, but rather that I feel a company should be able to have an opinion and people should be willing to accept or ignore their opinion. If you don't like their opinion, don't buy their product. However, for some hack politicians to make statements to ban private enterprise is, at best, a voter decision, not one for a mayor or any other politician to determine.

I’ll probably stop by Chick-Fil-A today since I have to eat out during my day.

Seems to me the biggest lesson is that there’s a lot of money to be made by pissing off the gay lobby.

The CFA near my house has been constantly crowded for over a week.

Don't have a restaurant within easy reach, but I just spent three times as many dollars online for Chick-fil-A merchandise as I would have spent for food.

It is a worst, Fascism. Especially so if this were done by referendum.

Rights cannot be created or destroyed by a vote.

My grand daughter and I are going go-carting and after, for lunch, it’s gong to be Chick-Fil-A, and I’ll be telling them the reason we supported them.

"Poor, poor delusional liberals. Chick-Fil-A is going to prosper because of liberal nazi like rhetoric, while JC Penny is shedding jobs."

The more telling comparison is of "Chick-Fil-A" to "Amazon". Both involve the "gay marriage" issue, both happened at pretty much the same time. Almost a "controlled experiment" in economics. What these dorks fail to take into consideration is that "straights" outnumber "gays" by (at minimum) a 90/10 ratio (and more likely 99/1).

My prediction....Chick-Fil-A's sales will go up, Amazon's will go down.

I fully intend to drop both my Amazon membership (including "Prime"), and my Amazon VISA card. Only reason I haven't done so is that it has (and continues to be) a very busy week.

Damn right it makes it easier to organize. Why do you think Chick Fil A is going to do a helluva lot more business in the coming months?
