You know the story by now.

You know that during a visit to North Carolina last month, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy gave an interview to the Cary-based Biblical Recorder, which has been writing about Baptists hereabouts since 1833. Cathy was asked about his company’s family-oriented values, which include closing restaurants on Sundays.

You know that Cathy said: “We are very much supportive of the family – the Biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

You know that the Jim Henson Co. asked that its toys no longer be distributed with Chick-fil-A kid’s meals, that the mayor of Boston said the chain’s restaurants are not welcome there and that gay-rights groups called for boycotts because of Cathy’s remarks were construed as opposition to gay marriage.

Do you know the whole story?

No.

Did Cathy ever use the words gay or same-sex marriage in the interview?

No.

This is a great article that surprisingly appeared in our local left wing McClatchy paper today. I will be showing it to friends that are pro-boycott. I will also be eating all 3 meals there today with the family!

Facts don’t matter. They needed another character for this weeks “Two Minute Hate”.

Had Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel done his homework on the issue when he said: “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.”

Actually, Emanuel was right when he said “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.”

"Chicago values" are "Ten murders a week".

I would bet more than one beer that Dan Cathy would agree that "Ten murders a week is not a Chick-fil-A value".

...when he said: “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.”

Well, I agree with him.

Re: Two Minute Hate...we are now in a Cold Civil War. East and West Coast Blue state culture...anti-religion...anti-Republican against everyone else.

We know which side most of the media is on.

The bovine excrement going around is amazing. Yesterday, I challenged a person on FB, who claimed that CFA discriminates against gay people. So I asked her to give me specific instances where CFA discriminated against gays in hiring or service.

*CRICKETS*

BTW, I'm enjoying my chargrilled chicken salad from CFA as I write this post.

Emmanuel worked for Obama at a time when Obama opposed homosexual marriage. So what values did Emmanuel have then?

Emmanuel worked in the Clinton White House when Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act. What values did Emmanuel express over that issue?

Emmanuel is stupid for another reason. Same-sex marriage isn’t even legal in the state of Illinois, yet, he’s saying that in order to run a business in Chicago, you must support it. You must support something which isn’t even in the law of the state, and an issue which has nothing to do with your business, in order to run a business in Chicago. Does any of this make any sense?

Nice, the “two minute hate” reference is spot-on. I was thinking about this last night and forgot the name of it. 1984 is becoming more prophetic every day. I re-read the book 3 years ago, and could not sleep for 3 nights.

Actually, I'd say a bit "YES" to that one. Chick-Fil-A values are NOT Chicago values as the continuing gang wars in Chicago graphically illustrate. I bet the casualties during the Capone years in Chicago were lower...

You may want to reconsider the all 3 meals idea.At 10 o’clock this morning the wait time at the local CFA is approximately 45 minutes.

I bought 10 bisquits and chicken for the office. The wife is taking out family friends for lunch. I have never seen it that busy. The counter person said that they had sold more for breakfast than they usually do for lunch.

bill1952~” Do people who favor diversity, tolerance and a civil dialogue on social issues always practice what they preach? “

This is another demonstration of Liberal BIGOTRY .
They preach tolerance ... for everyone who agrees with them
They preach intolerance ... for everyone who disagrees with them

In a religious magazine ,designed for particular religious organization , the owner admitted that he supports traditional marriage.
That the Lezbo/Fag/Uncertain Sexually Confused made this such an issue means that they were looking for a public issue , and stalked the owner’s beliefs. They had to go out of their way to look into a religious publication; they were in need of an issue.

I dont beleive that I will ever visit Chicago since they don’t hold the same values that I have (thuggery , Tammney Hall, kill capitol of the Free World, etc. )
I will not boycott them , I just have no reason to go there

The counter person said that they had sold more for breakfast than they usually do for lunch.

That’s why I stopped for breakfast. I live outside New Orleans and I was worried they would be out of chicken before I could get there for lunch. I e-mailed my address book this AM wishing them a Happy Chick-fil-A day and they have been responding back with their plans for today. What was meant for bad turned around for good. I pray prosperiety on ALL the stores!
