I look at it like this. Since they think Jesus/God is as reas as the Easter bunny, and say that very thing ad nausem, we may just as well be telling them homowhatever is wrong because the Easter bunny says so.

As stupid as that sounds to us, that’s what it sounds like to them. If Christ himself appeared and said it, well that’s another thing entirely ;) But they just look at it as a bunch of fruit loops quoting a fantasy.

They will eventually see the error of their ways on that subject for themselves. But as far as us bitter clingers go, I believe we can make more headway by arming ourselves with fact and beating them senseless with it. And even if the person we argue with does not embrace reality, the quiet ones around him/her will think about it.

Remember one thing when arguing with libs. It’s the Golden Rule I have learned over years of doing it. You never argue to convince them. The argumentative types never see reason. You argue to influence those around them who do not say much. THAT is where you have an effect. And those are the minds and hearts which are more open to ‘change;.

That makes much sense.

Whether in negotiating or debating, there needs to be a common language and some common points of reference from which to proceed.

One example of what not to do involves those who take their Bible into a courtroom to argue with a judge. They are essentially trying to get the judge to change his/her language from the legalese to something else, and change the framework from the legal setting to some sort of moral one. It doesn't usually work, and usually results in additional charges for just plain being silly.
