Fascism is state control over resources and the means of production presumably to increase effiency for the nation. The Italian version being the textbook example. What we’ve got is more like a kleptocracy. Just outright looting and spreading the booty around, with laws designed to protect the looters and stifle dissent. There is no “big picture” here of some eventual communist utopia. It’s just a giant smash-and-grab of wealth and power.

As of this moment you’re right. However, this is where the mob becomes the useful tool of the totalitarian statists. When the mob is unleashed, and the chaos and destruction ensue, the people will call for someone or some group to reestablish peace and order. Then those with the big picture step forth.
