I know Jim Joyce felt horrible for blowing the no hit call on Armando Gallaraga. On the other hand, both names now go down in baseball history because of it.

Derek Dye is spending the summer before his senior year at the University of Illinois interning for the Daytona Cubs. If an internship is supposed to offer you real world experience, Dye’s experience on Wednesday night was proof.
Dye was being given the chance to run the organ music during Wednesday night’s game. There was a questionable call at first base. “Looked like our first baseman caught it, and then lost it on the transfer. So you figure the call would be out,” Dye told 94WIP’s Marc Farzetta.
So Dye thought he’d have a little fun. “I played “Three Blind Mice,” knew organ tone, no lyrics, just the organ,” he said. “And then, within about four or five seconds of the song playing, the home plate umpire looks up, yells as loud as he can, ‘you’re gone!’” The home plate umpire had tossed Dye from the game.

I don’t think the umpire had the authority to throw out the organ player. The organ player should have given the finger to the umpire and continued to play.

They used to play that at all national games years back. (no, not that old, just checked with my older folks).
Only ‘problem’ I could imagine would be they played it in regards to a call...
That said, Today’s Umps would never have survived Ebbetts Field home of Brooklyn Dodgers what with the Dodger Sym-fon-eee patrolling the aisles and breaking out into whatever song when they felt like it, more often than not “Three Blind Mice” ..
Also Gladys Gooding on the Organ (sounds somewhat pornish).
There was a ‘fact’ back then that 1 person played for the Dodgers, Knicks and Rangers in the same season - Mz Gooding was the Full time organist at Madison Square Garden as well as Ebbetts Field but the baseball season was over by Oct 9 or so and basketball/hockey didn’t play into June or July...

As for announcers, Not traded but something else.... didn’t Augie Busch put a hit out on Harry Caray for banging his D-I-L and he moved from St. Louis to Chicago to escape? :)

In 1948, Harwell became the only announcer in baseball history to be traded for a player when the Brooklyn Dodgers’ general manager, Branch Rickey, traded catcher Cliff Dapper to the Crackers in exchange for breaking Harwell’s broadcasting contract. (Harwell was brought to Brooklyn to substitute for regular Dodger announcer Red Barber, who was hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer.)
This isn’t the first time that’s happened. On June 26, 1985 Wilber Snapp was ejected from a game at the Jack Russell Stadium for playing “Three Blind Mice” in response to what he thought was a bad call from the umpire, Kevin O’Connor. The umpire pointed up to Snapp, who was sitting at his organ behind first base, then thumbed him out of the game.

Actually he does. The ballpark is controlled by the league for the duration of the game and the umpire can run anybody whom he deems to be interfering with the game.
