The top Senate Democrat evidently believes he can make outrageous accusations based on anonymous secondhand “sources” and then require the accused to disprove his accusations:
Earlier this week, Harry Reid revealed why Mitt Romney is refusing to release more tax returns: He didn’t pay taxes for an entire decade! It almost sounds too crazy to be true, and in fact, Reid is “not certain” that it isn’t a total lie. However, he is sure of one thing: “I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination,” Reid told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I have had a number of people tell me that.” So we aren’t talking about just one anonymous Bain investor, but several people who have seemingly only shared this story with Reid. In an interview with Nevada reporters on Wednesday, Reid refused to name his sources or back down on his accusation. “I don’t think the burden should be on me,” he said. “The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes. Why didn’t he release his tax returns?”
This is preposterous and I feel compelled to offer an apology for using the term “McCarthyism” to describe Reid’s tactics, given that Sen. Joe McCarthy was an American patriot who never wrongly accused anyone of being Communist. (See M. The comparison, however, is quite instructive: One of the reasons McCarthy’s critics were able to destroy him was because McCarthy’s investigations — like the investigations of the House Committee on Un-American Activities, with which they are often confused in popular legend — were often based on sources whose secrecy was a matter of national security.

Someone told me that the Harry Reid is a child rapist. He needs to PROVE he’s not.
I’ve heard the same thing: Harry Reid like to rape little boys. He may have killed some.
These are serious charges.
Harry Reid needs to prove his innocence.
This is suggested reading for every American. It is a fabulous book. After that read "Witness" by Whittaker Chambers. Any American that reads these two (very readable and entertaining) books will become Freepers in short order.
Maybe those second-hand sources typed all that up on an old, now sledom used, Selectra typewriter and had a mysterious woman deliver it to Dingy Harry.
Yeah, I read that, too. I read it on Facebook and on this month’s cover story on “Rapist Times”, so it must be true.
It’s the seriousness of the charge, not the nature of the evidence.... Where have I heard this before?
I really don’t think the good Lord is all that concerned about American political shenanigans.
Not only did he rape little boys, and then kill them. He disemboweled their dead carcasses and wore their entrails around his neck like jewelry. Maybe he can submit evidence that this is not true.
I have a sneaking feeling that Romney is pulling a rope-a-dope on Harry ScReid and his virulent band of miscreants concerning his tax returns. Toying with them like a cat playing with a conquered mouse.
I heard that Jerry Sandusky and Harry Reid are “friends”.
It’s the same old trick Democrats have used for years. Throw a story out there, the idiots that vote Democrat will believe it and then when it is proven false half of them will still believe under the old where there is smoke there is fire rule.
Reid and his skunk opposite number in the House know all the tricks and are pulling no punch’s this year.
He and Nancy Pelosi are the perfect spokespersons for their party.
What’s this about Harry Reid killing puppies, roasting them over an open pit, and then eating their brains?
BTW, would someone explain to me why Mr. Reid can’t be charged with libel for this kind of bullshit?
To the contrary, I think he is deeply grieved by the direction the left has taken us, as he is grieved by our apathy in allowing it to happen.
I would love to hear sleazebag Reid explain how he got all his money, when he has never done anything but be a “public servant.” I know he likes to pretend that he had a law practice, but that wasn’t much of a practice, and it didn’t last long before he went into politics. How does a broke man become a rich man while serving in Congress? Come on sleazebag, enlighten us.
