He’s got plenty of “republican” help. Dick Snyder has always been for high speed rail, sustainable cities, and greenways.

"Sleftist theorists of community organizing have advocated a series of moves designed to quietly redistribute tax money to the cities. Health-care reform and federal infrastructure spending ...

Demaocrats control the largest cities and they'll always spend more on their base.

Liberals hate the suburbs because urban sprawl and the dispersion of the people away from population centers makes it harder for these leftists, wanna-be overlords, to exercise control over us.

I know they're sure squeezing the hell out of my little town. If they buy the 2000 acres on the south, we'll have state land on 3 sides of town right up to the backyards.

I don't see the point since its all rural anyway and it seems like the only thing they're doing is protecting it from us pesky private owners. I was just a mile outside town yesterday and look at the horrifying urban sprawl I encountered.

That is called “sustainable development” in environmental lingo. It is all a documented facet of Agenda 21 and ICLEI assisted “smart growth” planning.

I’ll trade your urban sprawl for mine any day of the week. I feel more relaxed after just seeing that picture.

Much easier to operate those FEMA camps if everyone is weaponless, hungry, bunched up and totally dependent upon the Feds for everything when the unexpected “big crisis” is announced. Feds are already stockpiling guns, ammo, riot control equipment, etc. in preparation of civilian riots when the unexpected “big crisis” arrives. Should be pretty easy to retrain the TSA people as camp guards since the transportation facilities will be closed down, at least until the “big crisis” is over.

The best film I ever saw that envisions what Obama and other socialists want for us is the Russian film Stalker! It is a fantastic film that depicts two men trying to escape the dystopian city in search of a secret room but find themselves in awe of an ethereal nature far removed from the confines of the city. A beautiful film, I highly recommend it!

This was done for decades in NJ, until the suburbs and the state ran out of money; many of the thousands of cops, teachers, and firemen laid off in the past few years in NJ were laid off by our cities.

A side effect of the tech boom is that you longer need a “city”; people commute from one suburb to work in a commercial office park in another, and they shop in suburban malls.

Control is secondary; they want to tax you.

Funny thing is that there’s a new gas well right there behind the trees on the left.

Which is actually another issue often overlooked when states grab the land. They get the mineral rights.

Democrats just want to do to the suburbs what they’ve done to the cities they control.

When I think of cities anymore I also think of James Burke, he had an interesting name for cities: Technology Traps.

If the Food, water and Electricity fail to arrive as needed by those “Technology Traps” then the inhabitants are trapped and most will die after some time.

That my FRiends is the ultimate hold that the Government and the Leftists want over the citizenry. Do as we say, when we say it or you don’t get what you need to survive in this place we’ve forced you to live in.

This is perhaps the most insidious thing the Obama people have done in the last few years. (Or perhaps “co-insidious” with Obamacare.) I heard Hannity interviewing the author on his radio show — and it sounded to me like part of the history of the Soviet Union.

Oh, yes, indeed. Texas Gov. Rick Perry's "Trans-Texas Corridor" scheme (which is still quietly going forward, in smaller, less-politicizable pieces, stealthily) is part of the NASCO/SPP superhighway corridor, a much larger bipartisan plan that has a bipartisan committee run by co-chairmen one from each party (one recent co-chairwoman being Eddie Bernice Johnson, a Dallas-area Democratic representative).

George H.W. "Poppy" Bush's administration also displayed an unhealthy interest in herding people back into the central cities so land speculators and developers could get filthy-rich on forced draught. The proof-of-concept demo is Portland, Oregon, which is beginning to resemble the Third Reich, and for very good reasons: the undergirding principles are the same.

Conservatism is destined to lose because we only fight the convenient battles while the progressives fight every battle.

Every time a thread like this is posted its full of complaints about democrats and liberals because conservatives are afraid of harming the party. Its sad but its what it is and its a sure fire loser in the long run.
