When Julian Castro, the San Antonio mayor, was announced Tuesday as the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention, the most common reaction among Democrats was Who?
The first Latino ever tapped for the high-profile primetime address, 37-year-old Castro is the youngest mayor of a top-50 American city. Serving a second term after a 2011 reelection with 82.9 percent of the vote, the Stanford and Harvard Law graduates biography lists a number of accolades that make it clear hes an up-and-comer. He made Time magazines list of 40 under 40, and his life story is the embodiment of what we think of as the striving American. The son of a single mother, Castro and his twin brother, Joaquin, who also has a stellar résumé and is running for Congress in Texas, strike the same chords that Barack Obama did when he was selected to keynote the Democratic convention in 2004that America is a land of opportunity where merit and hard work are rewarded.

Geeze....things must be really bad at RAT Party Headquarters. They wanted Fidel, would have welcomed Raoul, but had to settle for Julian.
Another “Mr. Slick” slimebag.
Well I can tell you as someone that lives in San Antonio, the “empty suit” has never been worn better!
Of course there are plenty of bird-brained liberal ideas included.
Sure, why not Castro? He touts the same liberal/left claptrap like all the new Dems. Yay, let’s have those “sustainable” jobs built on green technology that are so abundant. What?....they’re not so abundant? You mean there’s hardly any of them? Which makes Castro the latest liberal economics quack. Maybe he’s got some “good” ideas from those people with the same name who live on that island in the Caribbean.
Lots of talk lateley about the “new Obama” being one Hispanic or another - Castro and Villaraigosa, for instances. Looks like the bolshevik Dems are thinking about kicking american blacks to the curb. Axelrod’s formula - Harold Washington, Deval Patrick, Barack Obama - will now be applied to a new demographic.
The blacks had their turn so now it’s the turn of the Latinos
Like Obama, the “stellar resume” was a gift, not earned. I am not saying that Castro was a bad student, etc., but AA elevated his resume far beyond his real achievements.
“After engaging in protests to try to get the ChicanoStudies Department to give money to an openly communist group, he dropped out of UCLA and attended the unaccredited People’s School of Law.”
Another socialist.
Yea!! He’s the next little commie bastard!!!
There can’t be a shortage of communists in the Democrat Party.
The Democrat party - home of affirmative action presidents.
Lots of talk lateley about the new Obama being one Hispanic or another - Castro and Villaraigosa, for instances.
His name change is attributed to his taking his (now former) wife Connie’s last name Raigosa and merging it with Villar. I went to elementary school with Connie’s older brother.
I like the sound of Antonio “Viva La Raza” better.
Uh, no.
If you become a Democrat, you are not a "striving American", you are the embodiment of what we think of as the "corrupt, big city, jump-on-the-gravy-train, looter-politician-criminal".
They are going to try to take over TX and turn it blue.
Better learn how to pronounce “Latino” right now. It’s not how you remember. Latino is pronounced “Lah” - followed by a very soft “t,” then followed quickly with a very loud “EEE!” — then a soft “no.” Please note the “no” needs to be pronounced through rounded lips, so it’s not just a flat American “no.” It’s a “no” with zest and style!
Remember when Zero schooled all the media puppets that it’s “Pock-EEE-stawn?”
Remember, saying things in a non-American way shows that America has humility. That’s a good thing.
He's kind of like Obama except he actually has run something.
Great creds...

Julian Castro.....raised by a radical mother (LaRaza) just like Obama was raised by a radical mother.
How many ‘keynote’ speakers will be at the Dem convention?
They hve been saying for months that Los Angeles mayor- also Hispanic- would be keynote speaker......
Hope and Change with a latin rythmn...Live Más!
