Not a chance. The staff is a reflection of the candidate. Especially at this late hour.

Support and defence of freedom of speech and freedom of religious beliefs is now a “religious jihad”? I missed that, when did that definition come about?

Agreed. It's a trap that Romney is wise to avoid. The Obama campaign is drooling for Romney to speak out in favor of Chick-Fil-A or show up in one of their restaurants. They will then run campaign ads of Romney at the Chick-Fil-A with a solemn voice in the background intoning how Romney supported homosexual marriage when he was running for office in Massachusetts. This will make Romney look like a fool and a hypocrite. Why give the Obama campaign any ammo on Romney when they are doing a fine job self-destructing? Let the people who showed up at Chick-Fil-A this past week speak for what is going to happen this November to Obama and his ilk.

Sure, Romney can say he is supporting free speech and not necessarily the opinion of the owner but we all know that the media will not give him a fair shake and they will pound him on his prior support of homosexual marriage and his attempt to make political hay of the Chick-Fil-A situation.

Romney needs to focus on economic issues and keep the economy the centerpiece of his campaign. Getting caught up in this distraction will hurt Romney and can only help Obama, if only that it gets the bad economic news off the front pages.

I think Romney is very exposed on the homosexual marriage issue because he apparently supported it in the past. He should stay away from this issue. If we focus on electing Tea Party people to our legislatures (like Cruz and West), we need not worry about homosexual marriage gaining a foothold in this country. Let's focus on killing this legislatively by electing conservative Tea Party people and lets have Romney focus on removing this stain that currently occupies our White House. Romney may not be our guy but we can't afford to have him stumble and allow Obama to win another term. The stakes are just too high.

Naive and short-sighted, at best.

And what about principle, eh? Does that ever figure into your calculations?

Would Dwight Eisenhower or Reagan felt the need to take a stand on a restaurant controversy?
No.
Politics are trivialized to the point where some think the leader of the freaking free world should be involved?
Really?
People need to grow up a bit in my opinion. Flame away....

Romney to speak out in favor of Chick-Fil-A or show up in one of their restaurants.

Romney would never do that since he believes that Chick-Fil-A is wrong. You are so wrong on so many levels. First of all had Romney gone to CFA on Wednesday like the patriots did, he would have FINALLY prove he is not a liberal fraud. Of course, he now proves that he sucks more than ever imagined. You do know that Friday was a failure and you are sucking Romney’s toes again saying he was right. Your a delusional human being. I feel so sorry for your love fest on Romney. Can’t you have a bit of principles AT ALL???????

This is NO surprise.... So called conservatives yackers for $$$$$$ have no problem in joining the bowels of perversion... I have tossed my Ann Coulter books and stopped tuning in to listen to Rush.... Why? Because they worship at the feet of the Wall Street Bull and ignore the very things that has given US the wings of blessings and protection.

The rot is wide and deep.... I am reminded of that parable of the ‘rich’ man every time I hear the unwise, high-minded, moderate GOP establishment attempt to get out the vote.

You are using a straw man approach. That fact that Romney has decided (wisely) not to step into this bear trap does not infer any lack of principles. Defeating Obama is priority number one. If we allow Obama to win, all the momentum we have been building in the Tea Party these past few years will be lost. I say defeat Obama, continue electing people like Ted Cruz at the lower levels of government, and keep Romney’s feet to the fire until we (the conservative Tea Party) can get it together and get a real conservative nominated in a future election cycle.

Reading this thread has been enlightening. Apparently freedom of speech and freedom of religious beliefs are now "sticky" issues that "our" candidate needs to steer clear of.

Amazing how "conservatives" are twisting themselves into pretzels to cover for Mitt. If he wins, these "conservatives" are going to have some serious back pain if they have to do these pretzel positions for the next 4 - 8 years.

Your mistake is in thinking that these matters are trivial.

They're not. They're fundamental.

It's the Obama/Romney regular talking points that are in fact trivial.

With the collusion of the media, they're fixing to try and make this a Seinfeld election. In other words, "about nothing."

WRONG, RomneyBOT.

Mr. ROmneyCARE is a ... coward.

He goes after women. He hides behind puppets.
He NEVER goes for a conservative principle.

NEVER.

This was a line in the sand.

Mr. RomneyCARE chose to be a cowardly liberal.

Those who worry have a point. We know that the Bushes were never on our side in the culture wars. Even after he publicly became pro-life. George HW sent Barbara out to reassure his elitist friends that the family was still pro-choice. Even as he did the minimum in favor of pro-life, W. sent HIS wife and kids out to tell us that, again, the family was “respectable” on the cultural issues. I am beginning to wonder if the republicans will have any speaker at the convention who openly supports DOMA, at least in prime time.

He is not a conservative and that is why I cannot support him. He won't take a position against so-called "same-sex marriage," one of the crucial questions facing American society today. Similarly, he will not take a position on the infiltration of our government by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, a crucial matter affecting our National Security. He's content to toe the PC line and stands for nothing that we Conservatives hold dear.

Smart move...no need to get caught up in this distraction.

Exactly! This whole civil rights = homosexual marriage message is being used by the rats to rally young voters to a cause and get them out of their parents basements long enough to vote.

Has the LSM asked Obama about it?

Just my Opine, but why get involved when Obama has not. The LSM would castigate Romney no matter what he said while portraying Barry as above the fray.
