Regardless of whether you agree with gay marriage or traditional marriage, this move is hands-down a smart business one in a stuttering economy, plus it stands up for free speech, which really is a bipartsian issue: Missouri GOP Rep. Alan Nunlee has sent a letter to Chick-fil-A welcoming the franchises' "investment" in their districts.
Nunlee's statement on his website points out the intolerance of discouraging someone's business from your city if you don't agree with the owner's personal views: "Elected officials that are now threatening to block new Chick-fil-A restaurants in their cities are acting in a manner that is un-American. Demanding ideological conformity in order to be allowed to run your business is a dangerous precedent. It is like something that would happen in Soviet Russia. Clearly, a lot of people who like to fashion themselves as open minded and tolerant are actually the most intolerant folks around if you don’t agree with them."
The letter is below:
"Dear Mr. Cathy:
We write today to show support for the manner in which you have defended your values and reputation in the face of unfair and malicious criticism.
Chick-fil-A represents an American success story. What began in 1946 as a small diner in Hapeville, Georgia, has grown into one of the most flourishing quick-service restaurants in the country. While the business has expanded, Chick-fil-a has remained faithful to the family values on which it was founded. Your company has displayed dedication to your employees by offering them college scholarships and ensuring they have the opportunity to worship on Sundays, commitment to communities through your philanthropic foundation, and an emphasis on customer service as evidenced by your numerous awards and continued growth in sales.
We are bewildered by those who would take offense at your values and would block the expansion of your business into their communities. We welcome Chick-fil-A’s investment in our districts. The example of quality, hard work, and charity demonstrated by Chick-fil-A is one that others who, when faced with opposing views, resort to hate would do well to emulate."
Fox News is reporting that Nunlee got 16 representatives to sign on to the letter.

His home is in Lee county, he reprents MISSISSIPPI’S first congressional district, I live in DeSoto county, the most populous in his 25 county district.

In the name of tolerance, the liberals are intolerant of someone who has the audacity to have the politically incorrect opinion that marriage should be a man and a woman.
In the name of celebrating diversity, the liberals are trying to stifle free speech and political opinion which do not conform to their rigid ideology. In the name of diversity, they want to squash diversity.
In this case, the issue of homosexual marriage is not an issue that is open for debate and discussion. Instead, there is to be no dissent allowed from the politically correct view. Any with politically incorrect views will be outed and punished. If they own businesses, those businesses will be targeted for destruction.
In the name of tolerance and diversity, we must destroy all who do not conform. There is no tolerance or diversity of opinion allowed on many issues, including homosexual marriage.
In the name of diversity, we must have uniformity of position and opinion.
Sounds like Orwell’s 1984 to me.
If I had the money and business ability, I would try to open a Chick Fill A right on the border of Chicago. Somewhere such as on South Cicero, across the street from Ford City. Somewhere where many residents of Chicago would go to eat, but for which all the tax revenue and benefits would NOT go into Rahm Emmanuel’s coffers.
