More than a million youth and young adults who came here illegally with their parents have been given a temporary hiatus from deportation. The United States Citizen and Immigration Services announced that beginning on August 15th they will implement the “dream act lite” authorized by President Obama through executive order.
Congress has twice stopped “Dream Act” legislation yet President Obama went the route of the executive order to accomplish this program.
The USCIS will have all forms and instructions available and begin immediately accepting applications for the deferred action for childhood arrivals. This group is commonly referred to as dreamers and includes those children and young adults who arrived here with their parents or guardians through no fault of their own.
