Cruz: Tea party ‘overwhelmingly’ behind Romney
The Washington Times ^ | August 5, 2012 | Sean Lengell

Posted on 08/05/2012 4:48:20 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Ted Cruz, who rode a tea party wave to win the Texas Republican Senate nomination last week, said Sunday the movement will “overwhelmingly” support Mitt Romney in the November presidential election.

Mr. Cruz said tea party activists will rally in defense of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee because they’re “energized” to defeat President Obama.

“I have spoken with literally thousands and thousands of tea party activists, and I have yet to met a single tea party leader that is not going to vote for Mitt Romney and work hard for him,” Mr. Cruz said on Fox News Sunday.

“Our country is in crisis, and we’ve got to stop this Obama agenda if we’re going to preserve opportunity for our kids and grandkids.”(continued)

Here’s what your post boils down to.

Datura logic: “Voting for the liberal candidate is the conservative thing to do and voting for a conservative makes one a Communist”

You have perhaps just made the most stupid arguement in the history of Free Republic. No wonder the lib gets your vote.

A little premature. Myth is not yet the official nominee of the GOP,

EXACTLY. Seems the maggot had his dogs contact Cruz to ask him say a few kinds words about mitt and the maggot, et al, will help$ him.

Yours is a good strategy. It will be much easier to have some influence if you're thought to be a friend who has helped and supported you in the past and can either bring help or resistance.

Romney will be looking for such people to get things started and to keep the ball rolling.

It will be interesting to watch Cruz and see what he turns out to be. With the GOP's progressive drift to join the left, they have created a political vacuum that must be filled.

If you really don’t understand the gravity of this election, then you are of no use to us.

I guess you didn't get the memo that Free Republic is a Conservative website and NOT a Republican website.

I'm ABO. Ask me if that in includes the worse than RINO Romney and you'll get this answer:

Yes.

Now ask an ABR if that includes Obama. A direct answer would require the same number of letters that I used in my answer. But odds are you'll get more.

“Those holding their noses and refusing to vote for Romney are ignoring that Obama’s administration is actively dangerous to the rule of law, Federalist principles and democracy itself. “

Then make the damn congress rein him in. That’s their job as a check on Govt power. No need to elect a liberal and pray to the Blue Fairy that the same congress reins HIM in.

Better yet, elect actual conservatives and avoid the entire disaster. The election is months away. Pick one and vote for them.

Or WILLINGLY elect a liberal and think it’s a good idea.

I notice that a lot of people include Jim in there responses to me when I disagree with them.

I think that calling us Conservatives who refuse to partake of the Romney crap sandwich "radicals" is a little more than disagreement with us.

And quite frankly, I'm tired of all the whipping tactics that you Romneyites are trying to use against us in order to try and shame or bully us into the GOP-E line.

Ain't gonna happen, so scram!

You are NO PATRIOT! You fold at the first sign of trouble and so damn dumb when it comes to ‘tactics’. There would be NO America with your jellyfish ways.

You FAIL big time! And besides READ - this is NOT a Republican forum - proof how lost you are. Win a battle? LOL! You couldn’t find you way out of a paperbag!

Take YOUR ANGST out on the GOP and godless Romney, the imposter to the GOP party. Another one of his similarities to Barry - IMPOSTER! Clueless - you don’t even know who the enemy is. Some warrior you are!

Do you want a socialistic future?

You're going to get that with Romney and the GOP-E regardless, so NO SALE!

You just don’t understand. It is the RIGHT of the ABOer to spout liberal smashmouth BS at actual conservatives who believe in something.

It is the RIGHT of the ABOers to use a conservative forum, especially a privately owned one, to further damage the conservative political movement and trash it’s owners.

It is the RIGHT of the ABOers to behave EXACTLY LIKE liberals using liberal arguments and tactics...because as they show with their promotion and intent to vote for a liberal (drum roll) THEY ARE LIBERALS and claiming conservatism cannot hide their actions.

That’s how it works.

If you think Romney will save us you don’t realize that we lost decades ago.

No one depicts Romney as Savior-- only ONE GOP tool to facilitate damming of the socialist march thru conservative strongholds to the sea, before the socialist ultimate swan song-- and he will do so well enough. Hope you read yesterday AT article entitled, "Conservatives Have A Secret" on FR for background.

“The radicals here on FR won’t.” I am convinced the great majority of those who post anti-Mitt will in the end recognize the gravity of our situation and will vote Mitt in November. Its too easy to make outlandish remarks anonymously and to vote right when no one will know.

By the way Cruz was right. Every one conservative/Tea Party knows America is at stake and nobama must go.

And you apparently don’t understand that the two are NOT mutually exclusive.

Romney isn’t my first choice (I would like Ryan at the top of the ticket), but he is the only viable alternative.

If your choice would have garnered the support, he/she would have been the nominee.

But here we are.

To you anti-Romney types, why don't you tell all of us who've decided to act like adults and vote for the GOP PRIMARY WINNER, who the viable candidate is (and please, not Virgil Goode!) whom we should vote for?

You anti-Romney folks have the audacity to label those of us who've decided to vote for the GOP nominee as “Romneybots”, “RINO’s”, “GOP-e’s” etc. At least our decision to vote for Romney will have the desired effect to remove the Marxist from office. What is your answer:

1) vote third party

2) do a write-in

3) not vote

Any of these three choices is supremely stupid, in that it will help Obama. You can sit here all day long and rationale this choice, but any of these actions will indeed help our resident Marxist! You've witnessed what the Kenyan has done to our nation over the past 3+ years, but yet you have more contempt for Romney?! WTF! Sorry, but this is just plain sick. To rationalize this, you must make the bogus assertion that Romney and Obama are exactly the same. Pfft.

We need a formal FR group Commie libtards for Romney Cruz Mourdock Paul Ryan Rubio Rand Paul Ted Nugent Mark Steyn

Time to pull them up from their plastic freedom-loving grass roots thus keeping the conservative landscape pure, pristine.

Don’t worry about us knuckle draggers. Be PROUD of your support for the liberal.

Perhaps you could have a parade. Announce it to the world. “Conservatism does not work”. Scream it long and loud. I assure you the MSM will slobber all over you for your political genius.

You ABOs are what you are. Liberal supporters.

I believe that is a true statement from the people who I have talked with. The radicals here on FR won’t.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Freepers are .025% of web traffic. Obama won by 6% in 2008. Pro or con, freepers won't decide the outcome of 2012. This is a pretty good forum for airing and batting around conservative arguments that the mainstream conservative magazines won't touch with a barge pole. However, I wouldn't get too het up about it one way or the other. We don't decide elections, except in coalition with the vast majority of people who don't follow politics at all.
