It may be GJ was doing what a radio legend I worked with used to do. Jack Wheeler goes way back...worked and hung out with Jean Shepard, Imus, and others. Wheeler abd I got along real well and I enjoyed doing news on his morning show.
Sometimes I’d use a kicker story about something he didn’t like...say talking about Curiosity looking for life on Mars. He’d open his mike and interrupt and we’d “argue.” After we were off air we’d be laughing so hard we were crying.
But one of his bits was to say something outrageous to get the listeners angry with him. People hated him but they always tuned in to see what he would say and his ratings were sky high.
