Emails: Geithner, Treasury drove cutoff of non-union Delphi workers’ pensions
Daily Caller ^ | August 6, 2012 | Matthew Boyle

Emails obtained by The Daily Caller show that the U.S. Treasury Department, led by Timothy Geithner, was the driving force behind terminating the pensions of 20,000 salaried retirees at the Delphi auto parts manufacturing company.

The move, made in 2009 while the Obama administration implemented its auto bailout plan, appears to have been made solely because those retirees were not members of labor unions.

The internal government emails contradict sworn testimony, in federal court and before Congress, given by several Obama administration figures. They also indicate that the administration misled lawmakers and the courts about the sequence of events surrounding the termination of those non-union pensions, and that administration figures violated federal law.

Delphi, a General Motors company, is one of the world’s largest automotive parts manufacturers. Twenty thousand of its workers lost nearly their entire pensions when the government bailed out GM. At the same time, Delphi employees who were members of the United Auto Workers union saw their pensions topped off and made whole.

The White House and Treasury Department have consistently maintained that the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) independently made the decision to terminate the 20,000 non-union Delphi workers’ pension plan. The PBGC is a federal government agency that handles private-sector pension benefits issues. Its charter calls for independent representation of pension beneficiaries’ interests.

So this is why they had a “special” bankruptcy. So they could discriminate against non-union employees.

If he Lies?? It appears he already has LIED, JAIL HIM NOW along with the rest of the gang. Actually the House doesn’t even need to hold hearings, they could just subpeona everyone and Arrest them on the Spot using already made public evidence. Hold a vote to appoint a Special Prosecutor and let them rot til the Senate Agrees.

Tyrants don’t usually start right off marching people into the death camps. They get around to it eventually.

They lie, and look to see if anyone cares... they steal, and look to see if anyone objects... they imprison, and look to see if anyone notices...

As soon as they are fully satisfied that they do anything they want without resistance, the purging begins.

Why doesn’t Romney have the Delphi retires gather en mass for a campaign commercial, a la BO’s Bain ad with that old steel worker who was laid off? Is Romney really that slow? Maybe he’s not smart enough to be President.

Just got thru reading this latest outrage from the Obama Administration. Let us not forget that Obama and his thugs also closed republican owned dealerships all over the country. This is the most corrupt administration in the history of this country.

I think this is a campaign ad that would get to Every working American directly.

All those delphi workers who were screwed standing in a group with a background voice reading the “testimony” of Turbo Timmy and his merry band of thugs and then the printed emails plastered on the screen showing they lied to the courts and screwed these people out of their Pensions.

The last voice over could be ‘They got away with shafting these Americans out of their retirement imagine what they will do to you if re-elected.’

Millions were spent procecuting Roger Clemens for lying to congress about steroid use. Here 20,000 families get the shaft and Congress will do nothing.

“Why doesn’t Romney have the Delphi retires gather en mass for a campaign commercial, a la BO’s Bain ad with that old steel worker who was laid off?”

I LOVE your suggestion. I think people who oppose Obama’s policies (and outright criminality) are craving action by the Romney camp that would bring some of the most grevious injustices of the administration to the forefront.

What is holding Romney back? And, by that I mean—what are the negatives to this strategy that he perceives?

Agree. If Romney doesn’t use this outrage in a commercial he just doesn’t want to win. I suggest we also call Boehner’s office and demand he call for hearings and a special prosecutor. Obama and his thugs are breaking the law with impunity.

Never give up. If you were one of the ones whose pension was destroyed for political reasons you and your group should make a TV ad proclaiming the truth about the situation. Don’t frame it as a political advertisement, as it would get lost in the plethora of ads on the airways this year, make it look like a call by one of these ambulance chaser lawyers’ firms. Get the truth out and get it in front of peoples’ eyeballs............

The Obama Administration’s outgoing pardon list will be very, very, very long.

That's what makes the work done by Sheriff Joe and the MCSO Posse so very, very, very important. Every last EO and every single pardon of his have to be completely and totally eradicated!

Nothing is going to happen before the new president is elected and sworn in, but afterward we need to stay on the backs of both houses of Congress until they invalidate everything the star of the most outrageous long con in history has perpetrated! Everything!

No "new tone" crap! That only led to an increase in the level of corruption because all the perps knew they'd get away with it.
