That is the truth! Once the university (read: graduation factory) gets their hands on your tuition, they could care less if you attend or pass your classes. PERIODI graduated a state university in 1982 with an engineering degree. My professors kept role, for the most part. What they did with those attendance records I do not know. We were required to attend lectures. I think that my liberal arts classmates skipped classes all the time.

As I remember, professors would factor attendance into your grade calculation.
If your grade was borderline, say B and A, good attendance would work in your favor.
In my entire college experience, I missed maybe 2 classes.

How you could do that and not attend classes would be quite difficult.
