Have you seen this:
Ramble On - Foo Fighters, with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones
If Wembley had a roof, it would have blown off.
I own the Wembley performance on DVD. It’s one of the greatest rock performances I’ve ever seen. They also did “Rock ‘n Roll” with the remnants of Led Zepplin with Taylor Hawkins singing and Dave Grohl on drums. Dave Grohl is a musical genius; not only that, but he just seems to be an all around good dude. He found out that the Westboro Baptist nuts were going to protest at a concert in Kansas City, so he got the Foo Fighters to put on country costumes and pulled around on a trailer before their show and played a filthy song called “Keep it Clean” to the Westboro Baptist nutjobs.
I loved his Grammy speech too. “To me this award means a lot because it shows that the human element of making music is what’s most important. Singing into a microphone, learning to play an instrument and learning to do your craft, that’s the most important thing for people to do. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about sounding absolutely correct. It’s not about what goes on in a computer. It’s about what goes on in here (pointing to his heart) and what goes on here (pointing to his head) Long live rock ‘n’ roll!”
As you can tell, I’m a fan.
