Alleged Wisconsin Gunman Wade Michael Page's Ex-Girlfriend Arrested

Police say they have arrested the former girlfriend of Wade Michael Page, the man who allegedly shot and killed six people in a Sikh temple, after authorities say they found a gun in her Milwaukee home.

Cook was taken into custody on the grounds that she is prohibited from having a gun as a convicted felon, a federal law enforcement official said. Cook was convicted in 2002 for fleeing and eluding a traffic officer.

Milwaukee police released a statement Tuesday after the arrest of Misty Cook, saying, "In a joint investigation with the FBI, the South Milwaukee Police Department has arrested Misty Cook on the crime of felon in possession of a firearm. Charges will be sought through the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office."

There's no indication Cook was involved with the attack. Much like her ex-boyfriend, according to the Anti-Defamation League, Cook was involved in white supremacy. The ADL has photos of Cook wearing a T-shirt with the name of the extremist right-wing group Volksfront. The group said that Cook had not been involved since 2008.

University of Nebraska criminology professor Pete Simi didn't comment on Cook but says he interviewed Page for a project researching white supremacists from 2001-03.

"When he joined his first white power music band, this really changed his life," he said, adding that Page told him his neo-Nazi beliefs came after serving in the Army.

That is a major problem in this country today. There are thousands of ways to become a “felon”.

Quite true... and many of those ways are unbeknownst to the populace.

I think inbreeding should be declared a felony.

I was thinking the same.

As well as what was the ground underlying the search or warrant if there was one.

Thank God this pair did not breed, too.

I think inbreeding should be declared a felony.

That'll never happen because it would disproportionally impact democrat voters.

Pessimist.

As an Optimist I would be thinking “wonder when they’ll have his funeral?”

“If you had a loved one who was killed by some clown as she was leading the police on a chase, you’d probably think differently.”

Oh, well if that is the logic we are following, then let’s just charge them with a felony when they go to get a driver’s license, since after that, they MIGHT flee the police, and then they MIGHT run someone over in the course of that chase. Nip it in the bud early, I say.

That isn't the logic we are following.

My point should be easy to grasp: if someone puts their own life and the life of others in immediate danger just to get out of a ticket, they are committing a crime.

If someone is applying for a driver's license, they aren't committing a crime.

Do you follow now?

He’s “alleged” for legal reasons, so he won’t sue ABC for defamation of character.

“Do you follow now?”

I do, but I don’t think your logic follows from the premise. You’re assuming that fleeing from police automatically puts the lives of others in danger, when that isn’t necessarily true. Sure, in a high-speed chase, you are correct, but what about the guy who continues to drive at 30 mph, obeys the traffic laws, and just doesn’t pull over? He’s not endangering anyone anymore than any other driver is. Hence, we should just charge all drivers with a felony.

Maybe she had one because she was afraid of her X boyfriend. I sure wouldn’t want to be his X girlfriend, if I sensed anything about his true nature, without a gun for protection.
