Well she used to have a 100,000 a year job when he was a State Senator.

Then she got a raise to 300,000 a year job when he became a U.S. Senator.

Their promotion of her was well rewarded because of all the hard work she did for them. OK, not really - they ended up getting a lot of money through crony capitalism.

Apparently she was so good at her job that absolutely NO ONE could fill her shoes - the job was left unfilled when she left to be the FLOTUS.
