I’m surprised this woman was allowed to compete at all. I have family that used to live in Kuwait and the stories they told about life for women in Saudi was heartbreaking.

Mmmm...after further reading, this chick is from California, with duel citizenship in the USA and SA.

So, she lives in the outdoor fun and sun state and has access to all kinds of training facilities and that is the best she could do?

I think I can run faster then that.

Yes, It is a miracle that she was ALLOWED to go and compete, that was the victory.

Things are finally opening up freedom wise for women in Saudi. They are allowed to vote this year for the first time and in many locals they are now allowed to drive.

These two women competing in the Olympics is a good thing..

Remember that old picture on National Geographic cover that showed a young Afghan girl in an orphanage back in the 1980s or early 1990s? She had amazing green eyes and looked sad, very compelling image. Well they found her again, all grown up and did an update. She talked about how the burqa is a wonderful thing, how life was better under the taliban, stuff like that. The arab/muslim mind is simply foreign to westerners.
