Conservatives win big in Kan. Senate primaries

Conservative Republicans who've been working to push GOP moderates out of state legislatures in a large section of the country have scored big victories in Kansas, where a state Senate that has been an obstacle to fiscal and social policy changes is likely to have a solid majority on the right next year.

Unlike other states, where results for conservatives have been mixed, Tuesday's primary in Kansas saw voters in GOP races oust seven incumbent moderate senators. An eighth, Senate President Steve Morris, a moderate Hugoton Republican, trailed his conservative opponent, likely marking the end of Morris' 20-year career as a legislator.

Some GOP voters transferred their ongoing frustration with Democratic President Barack Obama and the federal health care law he championed to moderate GOP state senators. Some wanted the Senate to be more conservative and more in line with Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and the state House's right-leaning majority.

"I would like it as conservative as it can get," said Alex Yoho, a 56-year-old optician from Topeka, who voted for a conservative challenger in his local state Senate race. "You can't get too conservative for me."

They’re really trying for the heavy scare tactics, aren’t they. “March Of The Evil Conservatives,” saith the liberal media.
Conservative Republicans who've been working to push GOP moderates GOP-e Liberals out of state legislatures in a large section of the country have scored big victories in Kansas …
That was screaming for a correction.

The Democrat party is the natural home for GOP moderates. They need to drive the hardcore marxist leadership out of the Democrat Party and return to their natural home.

Moderates outspent their conservative opponents 3-1 and the conservatives still bested them. Moderates must be beside themselves wondering what they can possibly do to cling to power. They’ll try being fake conservatives but we’re not fooled by that anymore.

The policies will change or the people will change!!

What happened in Utah is a perfect example. After what happened with Bennett, Hatch suddenly saw the writing on the wall and became a convert to the ultra conservative side. He faced a TEA party challenge and just barely held it off but he has really had to change his tune to do it. I hope the people of Utah hold his feet to the fire after the election.

I had a chance to meet and talk to Hatch, he seems sincere and truly conservative, he just worries too much about what it will look like if he is not nice to the Democrats. I say screw the Democrats, there isn’t one in office I would vote for. If a Democrat politician was on fire I wouldn’t wee wee on him to put him out.

“he just worries too much about what it will look like if he is not nice to the Democrats”

Well over time, these people have become his friends, and like any organization, they want it to be a nice collegial place to work.

But the problem with that is, IT’S A LEGISLATIVE BODY, where the people’s liberties are at stake, so it’s very important to get fresh blood and yes, some bomb-throwers in there as frequently as possible.

The senate was set up with six year terms with the senators rotating in and out every two years so it would be a coninuous body at all times (as opposed to the House). To this end, six or twelve years for any one senator is enough. 42 for senator Hatch is too much, but he fooled the people again!
