It's nice that he contributed money to the brave policeman.. but wasn't it some of the money folks gave Savage?

I mention this reluctantly.. but what the hell. I am sure he's done this in the past. Maybe he then puts his own money into his defense funds?

I believe he has stated that he diverts money from the legal defense fund to whatever the particular cause is. I’ve never heard him mention replenishing with his own money, but perhaps he does. He’s given more than I have, in any event.
