“Postal Service Losing $42,335,766 Per Day”

This isn’t going to last much longer. Eventually, they’re just going to run out of cash, have no money with which to operate. They’ve already defaulted on one or two pension payments.

How many years ago was it that the Post Office was “spun off” from the government into a “quasi-private” corporation? Was it the 1970’s?

The only possible solution that I see will be for the government to “re-nationalize” it once more so that it’s under direct federal control and operation. This won’t reduce the losses, but make it easier for the mail to continue to be delivered regardless...

Old muawiyah again! You are sure persistent with your BS about how wonderful the USPS is. I don’t have any trouble with my carrier, it’s just that he’s not particularly thrilled with his job. Actually, he’s relatively benign when compared with the bunch down at the local PO. Since you raise the issue of “race” and you have decided to threaten me for simply pointing out the fact that at least here virtually all the postal employees are “people of color,” you must be a member of that group. There isn’t anything peculiar about my racial theories. But you still want go waving the “race card,” instead of facing the realities of the situation as regards the Post Office. How about dealing with the facts rather than pointing your finger at issues that are at best, tangential to the issue. I’ll just bet you are going to vote for Obama again!

Your peculiar belief is that postal hiring practices exist for the purpose of hiring people of a single race.

Actually, there are more 'whites' than anything else.

As far as being a threat, your complaint is you don't like carrier delivery service ~ that can be fixed ~ they can transfer you to General Delivery. I've worked on problems going the other way where people didn't have a proper address and couldn't get delivery.

USPS has been under direct federal government control and ownership since it was created out of the old Post Office Department.

The $5.3 billion doesn't go toward USPS Pensions. It was an accounting gimmick used by Olympia Snow and her running dog lackeys on a Senate government operations committee to come up with what they believed would be a way to "reduce the deficit" back in 2006.

It was a backdoor way to raise taxes!

You mean, of course, DIRECT MAIL ADVERTISING, an exceedingly Capitalist Road sort of thing.

If I read it, it’s direct mail advertizing, if I throw it in the trash...it’s junk.

I do the latter.

I know some other people to call who might be interested in your peculiar racial theories too.

Chilling threat--especially from a 'Freeper.'

Hey, you don't think it's a serious matter when your average ordinary citizen comes up with a nutso idea that all postal employees are 'colored' ~ when they're not ~ and that the personnel system was designed to hire just them?

The USPS personnel manual is the only rule book there that I wasn't allowed to rewrite ~ it's still screwy ~ and it's not designed to hire anybody!

But you and others imagine it's actually designed to be race specific.

So, who did you imagine I might refer this to? The Geheime Stats Polizei or whatever?

Paranoia ~ it'll get you by the tail every single time and jerk you around like you don't know what.

I think I’ve gotten those. From people wanting to pressure wash my house or mow my lawn. I was surprised to find them in the mailbox.

Tonight’s haul was the 4000th version of flyers from two FL Republican Senate candidates working hard for me to hate both of them.

Who are the ‘some other people’ you would call? If that wasn’t a threat, what was it’s purpose? Your know-it-all attitude about the Postal Service is tiresome. What is your experience with it?

It is so tiresome to listen to people complain about the postal service...and compare it to fed ex.

First of all, I can’t wait to hear you all bitch about paying $13 to send something via fed ex. You think they are so wonderful...just wait until you have to mail something to an address they don’t deliver to. How much is that going to cost?

And, the Congress is using the postal pension plans to support the entire civil service pension corp because they spent all of the money. The postal department was the only one that was properly funded before 2006.

But, if you consider the worth of the postal system based on your very limited experience, go ahead and look to drop it, cut it, and eliminate it. The other carriers do not have the people or the infrastructure to handle all of the mail out there. And when the USPS goes away..it will be too late.

Many of you expressing your expert opinions know only your waddling down to the mailbox and looking in as your experience. Do just a little research before opening your mouths. Please.

Four decades of doing a variety of things ~ but with one full decade of writing and rewriting all of their public and internal regulations.

You do have to know everything there is about a government agency to be able to do that ~ or be allowed to do it.

So, think of me as your internal FREE REPUBLIC free resource regarding everything postal.

So, yeah, "TIresome" ~ and quite possibly the only FREEPER to have ever actually written a federal regulation about anything.

I even worked in/with/on/over/under several postal special service rate changes ~ so, yeah, I even understand the American brand of governmental utility rate change processes ~ with first hand experience.

Then, too, I have a MASTER PLANNER degree from the University of Virginia School of Architecture.

And now, your credentials for commenting on postal matters?

>> if the Congress would drop the requirement to prefund retiree health benefits

Prefunded so the douche bags in Congress can waste the funds away.

I’m a fan of USPS. It’s self funding through counter sales. I hope it solves its financial issues.

Well said.

Many confuse USPS with typical taxpayer funded bureaucracy. Unlike the other non-essential, parasitic agencies, USPS is funded through counter sales, not taxpayer dollars.

There are a couple of UPS guys ~ they show up every now and then, and i think we have had a few military postal liaison officers.

Not a big group ~
