agree the media will go after any republican so I can only go on what I know from my place and trust me I like him but we have to look at this not form a position we hold but more of a strategic one and what does he bring.

Knowledge, economy. not his state for sure, even if it did , it;s not much.

So the negatives are, what? rip apart his cuts , Romney needs FL and trust me with so many old people here even republicans they do not like him much and trust him.

This pick does not do anything for social conservatives, not for southerners, not for old people, actually not even FL which we need, not for Hispanics, not for white single women.

He brings fiscal conservatives into play which were to vote for Romeny anyway.

We have to put emotions aside here and loot at this tactically.

Ryan is a smart man, he can handle the media..they will trash him if he’s the pick starting tomorrow. Id vote for Scooby doo and Scrappy Doo if it meant getting rid of Obama. Have to look at the big picture, its either Obama loses or kiss America goodbye. I refuse to live under Communist rule, I just refuse to do it..I think if Romney does pick Ryan it’s to help bring together the Conservative vote. Id be pleased with a Ryan pick, he seems like a good guy and very likable. At the end, this is ALL about getting rid of Obama, before its really too late

This pick does not do anything for social conservatives, not for southerners....

The hard cold reality is that other than as a source of fundraising most of the South is irrelevant to both candidates. It's the nature of the Electoral College system. With a few exceptions they're not competitive states and it would be tactically silly for Romney to try to do anything for "southerners."

Romney could pick Jesse Jackson Jr. for VP and he'd still win Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama.

He brings fiscal conservatives into play which were to vote for Romeny anyway.

Out in the real world (not the tiny hothouse of Free Republic") self-described "social conservatives" were going to vote for Romney anyway as well.

And there are more fiscal conservatives would would be scared off by a social conservative VP pick than vice-versa (the weird constituency of Mike Huckabee notwithstanding.)

Ryan also would add some youth and humble(r) background to the ticket - his family wasn't poor, but he was a waiter, drove the Weinermobile for a while, etc.

Good points, but IIRC, old people don’t trust Obama.
