Months after he clinched the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney is still struggling to win over skeptical conservatives.

And the longer he waits to name a running mate, the more time conservative activists have to try to coax him to name one of their own—such as Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan. …

Romney's latest problem with conservatives flowed from a spokeswoman's reflections this week on the benefits of the Massachusetts health care law. That Romney-proposed law remains a touchy topic, since it was a model for President Barack Obama's health care overhaul—which Romney now condemns. …

Look once Romney names a VP, for all intents it’s showtime.

There’s approximately another 12 hours to play this gig.

Then it’s down to business.

The VP pick cannot cover up the fact that the head of the GOP ticket is another pitiful weak establishment RINO, a Massachusetts liberal no less. This same sickening song that has played before. I am so sick of this typical lesser of the two evils CRAP!

I don’t like the taste of gruel and I don’t think I can do 14 hour days of breaking rocks. The people of Cambodia, Russia, Germany, Poland, North Korea and many other places didn’t think it could happen to them, either.

Exactly, anyone that gets their feelings hurt because Romney in our nominee is just wishing for 4 years or more of BO as president. BO will do whatever he wants regardless of the Constitution. Bye bye America as we know it if these people refuse to come out and vote BO and the Mooch, Valerie Jarrett and all their anti-American commies out. Mitt, at least is an American.

Are you one of those who claims that Governor Romney is actually worse than Mr. Obama? If so, please elaborate.

A waste of time. Trying to reason with a ‘Mitt is worse than Obama’ freeper is kind of like trying to get your cat to fetch your mail. They would just as soon let the country burn to the ground than admit their idiocy.

We all need to get a grip. I am sorry that there are so many here that feel that they have to hold their noses again. I will hold my nose and do what I can to save what is left. If that ticks some off, oh well. Today it is still a free country but if you check out the Drudge reports headline, it ain’t for long folks.
Romney it is for me. At least he won’t bow to leaders, he loves his country and he is a capitalist.
I can’t listen to another 4 years of Obama speeches. Can’t do it. The man makes me crazy!

Actually they did think it could happen to them. It's like you picked the worst group of countries you could find to illustrate your point - all of them had very long histories of being ruled by unelected leaders, royalty, dynasties, dictators, other countries, etc. up until the late 20th century.

Cambodia? In the 1800s, either Thailand or Vietnam kept them under their thumb, and then they were ruled by the French and then Japanese and then French again. Russia? They traded tsarists for Communists, and the peasants had only been free for maybe 50-60 years before the Soviets. Germany? I don't even know where to start with that one, but things were so bad and dissent was squashed so severely that many Germans came to American in the 1850s and 1860, and those people had a helluva time for most of the 19th century and a big chunk of the 20th century thanks to royalty, emperors, and other unelected folks. Poland? Poland was ruled by other countries until after World War I, but that was pretty short lived. North Korea? Before going Communist, they were ruled by Japan for nearly 40 years and before that for many centuries they were ruled by royalty (dynasty).

And the European countries you listed had one form of serfdom or another until well into the 1800s.

You are voting down ticket conservatives to try to take the senate though? Right?

There is no evidence that Romney loves his country.

No male in his line has ever served this nation in uniform in their 170 year history here, 170 plus years of unbroken service to the Mormon Church, but no draft, no war, no patriotism, no political sense from Mitt or his five sons as their fathers ran for president, no sense of embarrassment as he campaigned to be a wartime President while his five military age sons toured the nation with him, could get any Romney man to ever serve America in uniform.

Remember that his father said that our military had brainwashed him, and that he ran as the anti-war candidate while Mitt was evading the draft in France, during wartime, and that Mitt left the republican party in 1979, because of Ronald Reagan being nominated.

Looks like Romney is picking Ryan. Then he won’t have to deal with Ryan’s austere budget plans as Ryan will be stuck in VP office. Romney is removing a threat to himself.
