Romney Prepares to Pick Ryan
Weekly Standard ^ | August 11, 2012 | STEPHEN F. HAYES and WILLIAM KRISTOL

.......[Paul] Ryan has spent much of the past year describing the election in similar terms—not simply as a referendum on Barack Obama’s presidency, but a choice between two competing, and very different, American futures. And Ryan has said he thought Mitt Romney shared that view. Here's how Ryan put it in an interview with THE WEEKLY STANDARD on May 3:

“It’s very clear from his [Romney's] last three or four speeches – and he’s very involved in writing these, setting this message – that he wants to bring this to a choice. Not just a referendum on Obama’s bad stewardship but on the American idea itself and a choice of two futures. It seems clear to me – because he’s embraced the kind of economic reforms we need to get the American idea back on track and prevent a debt crisis – that he is willing to bring this thing to the clear, clean choice it needs to be to give to the country. And that he’s ready to do that. And that for all the risk-aversion stories that have been written about him he seems to me that he’s gotten himself in the mindset of understanding the moment we are facing and the need to bring this real clear conversation to the country about the choice they have to make. And that these founding principles are really important. And so I really feel like – this is probably not the election he thought he was going to run, say two years ago when he first decided to run, but I think he’s become extremely comfortable and accepting of what it is and what it needs to be. Everything he says and does gives me a sense of that."..................

I thought Axelrod’s throwing out Pawlenty’s name as his personal pick was really cute. In my humble opinion, he is the weakest one from the short list. I hope Romney has better sense than to pick him.

Nope we need Ryan right where he is.......... I am thinking Gov Bob McDonnell since Virginia is a swing state and he has done right by Virginia. Plus the announcement is in Norfolk VA. Well that is my .25 cents anyway

(Editor’s Note: Paul Ryan will be Mitt Romney’s pick for VP, according to multiple reports, including one by the Associated Press. Ryan, of course, is a man who needs no introduction. But if you’re looking for a little refresher, this 2010 profile is a good place to start.)

It's now been confirmed and it's Ryan.

I wanted Rubio but Ryan is a great choice.

I watched that meeting with obama when Ryan kicked his ass all over the meeting room and the msm didn't know whether to wind their watch or wipe their butts.

A reckless pick. I have it on good authority that on at least three occasions between kindergarten and third grade, Ryan didn’t finish his milk and, on at least one occasion, was caught sneaking an extra cookie. Think of what Axelrod will do with that.

He is also Catholic, which should keep Obama’s War on Religion at the forefront.

The Ryan article LINKED above in Post #5 is long but hugely informative. The Left will begin again in earnest to cripple any well reasoned, workable attempt to slow and reverse the progressive agenda. The 2010 American Spectator piece on Paul Ryan and his plan, informs in an understandable, readable way the challenges, risks and rewards of his plan going forward.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/sns-rt-us-usa-campaign-romneybre879191-20120810,0,2525798.story

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has picked Congressman Paul Ryan as his vice presidential running mate, the Romney campaign confirmed on Saturday.

“Mitt’s choice for VP is Paul Ryan. Spread the word about America’s comeback team,” a Romney campaign app said, confirming widespread reports he had selected the 42-year-old Wisconsin lawmaker who chairs the U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee.”........

Its a dam dirty shame there isn’t a ways or means for them to swap places, Ryan would be a much better choice for POTUS.

As usual the GOP is ass-backwards.

It’s hard to be chosen to run for President when you choose not to run for the office.

We interrupt this thread with BREAKING NEWS... Ken Brockman reporting--

Paul Ryan has been named Mitt Romney's VP running mate... and we now take you to the Senate Rotunda for remarks by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid--

Well, I now can report that an anonymous caller told me... that Paul Ryan beats his wife with a fireplace poker--

Also, I was told Paul Ryan... is know for browsing the world wide web for child pornography--

And he secretly runs... a covert dog fighting ring in a barn outside Jamesville, Wisconsin--

I get no joy from this information and report it... simply as my duty to be a good American!

We now take you to Joe Soptic... for his comments on Senator Reid's facts--

Wow, Senator Reid, I am so awed by your truth, I find I must also report that when Mitt Romney was killing my wife... Paul Ryan was his lookout and getaway driver--

And we also have remarks by Stephanie Cutter... on the Ryan selection--

Paul Ryan was the dirty dog... that photoshopped me into that photo... with President Obama!

And he doctored that conference call with Joe Soptic... editing my voice in to it when I have never met nor talked to Joe Soptic at any time in my whole life!

President Obama has also spoke out about Paul Ryan... saying he welcomes the Congressman to the race--

Paul Ryan brings a wealth of talent to this election... Talent, I say, in championing legislation that will give billionaires untold trillions of dollars in tax cuts, destroy Medicare and Medicare, starve the poor and elderly in doing away with Food Stamps, remove from the voter rolls all Blacks, Hispanics and Gays. And finally, Ryan will ramp up the continuing total war the GOP has on women and their reproductive rights. It is "Romnyhood & Ryan, Rape and Pillage" for the Radical Right-Wing GOP!

Now, we must stop all these negative attack ads... on me and get back to trashing the evil Romney and his spawn from hell, Paul Ryan!

There you have all the BREAKING NEWS this objective journalist can report. We now return you to this thread already playing... This has been Ken Brockman reporting.

Romney must believe in Ryan’s vision of the looming fiscal disaster and understand that politics as usual won’t avert it.

On C-Span they played the clip of Ryan taking on Obama’s huge discretionary spending hike in that meeting. Then they played Obama misstating...or lying...about how that happened.

They cut it off before Ryan was shown answering Obama’s misstatement/lie.

We know what the LSM will do with Ryan. Ryan knows what they will do. Romney has to know it.

What this means is, game on, time to grow up, little kiddies, and face fiscal reality.

Ryan is the man.

Everyone should be aware that Ryan’s district is majority Democrat. That might be a factor, as well. It’s time some sane Democrats (ordinary people who can’t go with the insane groups and leaders of that party) voted GOP to save their country.

Ryan is also very socially conservative.

If Ryan had run for the nomination and won, he would be debating Obama. He chose not to, as we know.

I look forward to his debating Biden, or if Biden should be dropped, whomever is their VP candidate.

And as he travels the nation campaigning and being interviewed, Ryan WILL carry the debate not just against Obama, but FOR acting to avert the horrendous fiscal disaster soon to engulf America.

And to replace big government with more freedom.

Assuming there is a VP debate, it will be a series of body-slams. They will have to have Biden "wired" to feed him responses other than "bu-ah, bu-ahhhh."
