Finally, we’ll get a VP who knows how to put his foot down and not in his mouth.

I don’t agree. Now he is Romney’s man. Now we has to ask Mitt’s permission to put his foot down or open his mouth.

Will all the reporters now descend like buzzards on Janesville, Wisconsin, looking to dig up dirt on Ryan?

Did he get in trouble in 8th grade for something? If so, we will be shocked, just shocked, and liberals will imply that he is unfit for high office, due to such events in his life.

The liberals, with one voice, seem to decry the Ryan budget, and say that he throws Granny off the cliff and all that. But this campaign should provide a good contrast, in that, Obama has not even done a budget in his time as president. And, Obamacare takes hundreds of billions from Medicare. Ryan will be a good spokesman on those sorts of budget related issues.

Then, when Ryan speaks about these things, they will downplay it, and go back to something dumb he may have done when he was a boy.

I guess I’m cynical about how the media will spin things, sorry.

No kidding. I hope he was truly vetted and has the record of a saint. No 7th grade pranks, no high school shenanigans, no college fun. I can’t wait for the press to start interviewing his elementary school principal. Ugh.

We’ll see, but I don’t think Romney plans to muzzle him. Ryan’s brash outspoken manner is exactly what Romney needed, and he knows it.

I think this is going to be much more of a co-presidency than people realize.

“I guess I’m cynical about how the media will spin things, sorry.”

James Carville (CNN) just criticized the way Paul Ryan was dressed! No tie! And then he said that Romney didn’t have a jacket on! Sheesh!

Wolf just shrugged his shoulders and said something like he didn’t see why it mattered.

The looney left. Just switched over to CNN since Fox was interviewing Juan Wiliams. There was Jame Carville saying how Ryan was a good choice and the setting for the announcement was just fine. The only problem JC had was Romney wasn’t wearing a suit jacket and Ryan wasn’t wearing a tie. Go figure.

I guess I’m cynical about how the media will spin things, sorry.

I think you are just being realistic.

We all know that the mainstream will take-off and run with whatever talking points the propagandists and prevaricators at the DNC feed to them. That's what they always do.

There is only one question. Does the fossilized mainstream media still have the clout to influence the outcome that it once had?

I don't think they do.

I'm glad Romney didn't try to make some crazy "game changing" choice that would make the election about Romney's VP and not about the Obama disaster, which is what the election should be about. Now they can move forward and take the fight to the enemy. I doubt the Obama media whores can make this election about Ryan.

Well done.

Paul Ryan is a good choice. Solid. Conservative. Extremely smart. But it’s also obvious that the main reason Romney chose him was because he believes he needs someone like Ryan to shore up his support in the conservative base. And candidates who have done that have not had a good record of winning.

Because a true conservative would focus on curbing Banksters instead of cutting agricultural and medicare. The Big Banks must really love R&R ticket.

Ryan is a good conservative. He courageous and true to the Tea Party. I plan to vote for him.

James Carville (CNN) just criticized the way Paul Ryan was dressed! No tie! And then he said that Romney didn’t have a jacket on!

They could get some new age sartorial tips from POTUS and MOTUS.

Palin could not save the boat anchor McCain from sinking. I doubt Ryan can save Romney from himself. Romney will probably win; however, ONLY because he is publicly less of a progressive leftist than Obama .

We haven’t had a true conservative since Reagan.

Reagan was the best President in my lifetime without a doubt. However, don’t fool yourself about FR. There are plenty of folks on this site who would tear him to shreds for stuff he did before he got in office and in office. We would see the exact same comments about Ronald Reagan.

Reminds me of a friend who will never get married despite almost being 50. I told him he needed to look for Ms. Right instead of Ms. Perfect. Perfect is impossible to find in love and politics!

Ryan will do just fine. He is much smarter than Obama, and it would be silly to compare the idiot Biden to him. If conservatives want a balance to Romney, it would be difficult to find someone better than Paul Ryan. He isn’t the crowd pleaser that Sarah is, but he can hold his own, especially against Democrats. Having said all that, I would have preferred Allen West, but he wasn’t in the running.

I was out at that rally (front row, too!). Romney was wise not to wear a jacket. With the high-intensity media lights and humidity, it was fairly hot out there. Got to shake hands with both Romney and Ryan and their families. This was the first time I`d ever seen the Ryan family.. a nice wife and two wonderful young kids who seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all. I said to Mrs. Ryan, “NOW the fun begins!” She grinned and said, “Yeah, that`s what I hear!”

One thing I love about FR is the plethora of FReepers that serve up a multitude of facts. Thanks for sharing all of that.

Emily Miller at Washington Times just Tweeted:

Harry Reid just announced: "Ryan for VP means Romney is catering to the Tea Party and the far right!"

The media will always spin but Ryan has a history of calling out the premise of their questions before he answers. That puts the media rats on the defensive and exposes their bias.

John Boehner ‏@johnboehner Paul Ryan is a friend & principled conservative. He'll be a great partner to @MittRomney in the fight #4jobs. His speech put a tear in my eye.
