Would you give your full name, address, and phone number here on Free Republic? Would you? Honestly?

Hate to burst your little insulated bubble there - but I have done it - more than once.

Unlike you - I don't hide behind a fake name. My name is Gabrielle and have been called Gabz for over 50 years.

Well...If you haven't done so, then maybe I shouldn't hand out information that would make it immediately possible to identify my family.

Why would I want to identify your family? You and your family mean nothing to me. Read my above sentence - I have already done so. I have even posted pictures of my house.

If you continue to harp on this, **insisting on this personal information** it will **not** reflect badly on me, but on you both for your character will be in full view for all Freepers to see.

Sorry for bursting your bubble once again, newbie - but my character will not be called into question here. You are the one with character issues and they are on display everytime you post - which explains your paranoia about identifying yourself. You are afraid, in fact you are actually terrified, of being identified because then people would actually know just what kind of person you are.

Oh...And, this is one of those very rare occasions that I am contacting the moderator.

Go for it, I have no problem with anything I've said here. But I will give you a tip - if you want to report anyone - the best thing to do is hit the "report abuse" link below the post you have a problem with - it works better than pinging "administrator."

Gabz, I’ve interacted with you before and I respect your posts most of the time. That said what you said to wintertime is very ignorant. There are many good reasons why someone might not want their identity traceable on the internet.

If I posted my actual last and first name, people could with a single google search identify where I live, the last place I lived, my husband’s name, my daughter’s name, my profession, possibly my employer, and my fledgling attempts to break in as a writer. They could use that information to destroy me if they chose.

It’s not about whether YOU want to identify wintertime. It’s about whether Joe LurkerTroll who comes across this thread six months from now thinks it might be fun. Information on the internet just doesn’t disappear. I’ve seen real people get actually hurt by information posted about them online.

Want an example? Look at that “Adam” guy who posted the creepy Chic-fil-a harrassment video. How long did it take for his life to be exposed, picked through, and destroyed? Yes, he asked for it, but that’s a cautionary tale right there.

Disagree with wintertime’s tactics, conclusions, rhetoric, lifestyle, beliefs, stories, and strategies, but don’t dismiss her fears for her own security.
