Bill calls for Jewish prayer times on Temple Mount

On the heels of a US State Department report criticizing Israel for not allowing non-Muslim prayer on the Temple Mount, MK Arye Eldad (National Union) has drafted a bill mandating separate hours for Jews and Muslims to pray at the holy site.

"The Temple Mount is the holiest place for the Jewish People, where the First and Second Temple stood," Eldad explained. "It is also a holy place for Muslims, and is the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It also has a special status in Christianity."

As such, the National Union MK seeks to anchor in legislation freedom of worship at the Temple Mount for all three religions.

It sounds very good, on paper. However, I don't think it will happen. Can you spell "intifada"? Would the rabbinate agree to allow Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount?

God is powerful enough to protect those who obey Him. Indeed the very definition of faith is the willingness to do what is right irrespective of how the situation looks.

Jews for over two thousand years have fasted on the day when the Temple was destroyed. It is now within their power to remedy that loss. I look forward to its construction. Yes, it will terribly upset Muslims and yes there will be consequences. But these are all in God’s prophetic plan.

The rationale used to prevent Jews from walking on the Mount by some rabbis is absurd and helped provoke Moshe Dayan into giving up the holiest place in Judaism to the Nazi Muslims, who have spent the 40 years since excavating and destroying Jewish artifacts beneath. OF COURSE Jews need to pray on the Mount, and even take half of it over, restricting Muslim presence on their half.

It is best for me not to visit Israel. My temptation to say the Shema on the Mount and slug a Wakf Nazi (or Israeli police thug) would be too much to resist.

Their half? Allowing Muslims to even be within sighting distance of the Jewish site is to be too charitable, IMO.

Islam is a social cancer, and tolerating it implies condoning it.

Ok, raise your hands if you think the Aksa Mosque is Daniel's abomination of desolation (Dan. 9:27).

I wonder, are the State Dept functionaries writing the report simply ignorant, and don't know Israel doesn't control the site other than security. Who prays there is up to the Religion of Peace/Pieces. Or do they simply take the opportunity to bash Israel on the theory that no one will know the difference.

Or is State taking the position that the Temple Mount, like the rest of Jerusalem is part and parcel of Israel, it's capital in fact.
