(CBS News) CBS News has learned that the House Oversight Committee expects to file a civil contempt suit against Attorney General Eric Holder Monday. The lawsuit is to try to force Holder to release documents from the Fast and Furious gunwalking operation.
The Republican-led House of Representative voted to hold Holder in contempt on June 28 for failing to turn over thousands of pages of subpoenaed documents. The Justice Department has said it is withholding documents under White House executive privilege.

That's a question to you?
Is this the second or thrid time they tried to force them to hand over the records. Or, is this the first official attempt?
I was just wondering the other day what the hell ever happened with this.
I’m sure Holder is going to get a nasty letter.
How long is this dog and pony show going to be perpetrated on us?
Dragging it out til after the election, is my bet. Then, if they lose, they'll let him walk without being held accountable.
Whatever happened to indictments? Boy, sure clapped Martha Stewart in jail lickity split - and not because they could prove the charge - but claimed she lied to them - based on the changed (coerced) testimony of an underling that was made a deal he couldn't refuse - change your testimony or go to jail.
But these traitors, these REAL criminals who are doing things that are costing lives and damage to our country - they're gonna walk unscathed - I'll bet on it.
Yeah baby...Obama, DWS and the liberal elites want to talk about Romney and his tax returns.
Now they’ll have to defend the most corrupt administration in the history of our nation, and that includes Nixon and Watergate.
How about lighting a fire under his, ah, seat?
I've never seen such drag as*ing.
Wake me when the Arrest Warrants are served...
This is the civil case which will lead to discovery. This discovery will then provide Congress with the evidence necessary to proceed with criminal charges that most likely will be filed after the inauguration in January 2013.
What does this mean when they file contempt suit? Will it (or should it) be a big news day when this happens?
Where does it go from here? Next steps?
How bout lighting a fire under Darrell Issa’s butt? He’s running the show.
Of course not.
And it shouldn't be to anybody.
From the article: “The contempt vote had two possible tracks for enforcement: criminal and civil. But shortly after the House vote, the Department of Justice announced it would not pursue a criminal case against its own Attorney General and did not believe any crime had been committed. The civil lawsuit expected to be filed Monday would ask a federal judge to order the Justice Department to turn over the documents.”
Perhaps it has taken some time to come up with an alternative plan since the announcement by the DOJ they would’nt allow a criminal procedure against their own AG.
I would think that should have been anticipated with this crowd currently in office, but with so many RINO’s involved there had to have been some foot dragging.
As far as the missing articles of impeachment I can only believe they were eaten by a RINO. /s
I keep waiting for the day the MSM wises up and tosses Obumo under his own bus. God knows they have enough material to work with.
I think that's called a retorical question.
What would impeachment accomplish? The Senate would never convict. The media would just spin it as election year politics, especially given the makeup of the Senate. That could backfire politically. What would we gain then? Potentially improve the chances of getting another 4 years of Obama? Not worth it, given that conviction by the Senate is impossible.
Yeah, sure, let us throw our principles away!
Who knows what evil will befall us if we actually stand our ground?
These are scary times!
Let us duck down in our safe foxholes and let somebody else fight for America!
The very last thing that we should do is admit to believing in Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness!
Stay scared America! Fear rules!
I don't recall reading any stories that began with "Democrat led House Ethics Committee..."
