WASHINGTON (AP) -- The tea party didn't get its man in Mitt Romney. But the movement got one of its ideological heroes in the Republican presidential ticket's No. 2 slot.
Romney's selection of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate marked a huge victory for the tea party. Its roaring influence helped Republicans take back the House in 2010, gaining 63 seats. Since then, its no-compromise positions on deep budget cuts set the parameters of high-profile fiscal fights on Capitol Hill.

Wow, here comes the spoil sports. It will be hard to wade through the BS.
In several crucial elections, candidates chosen by the Repub/establishment went down to defeat by Tea Party candidates.
In Texas, Lt Gov Dewhurst spent $19M of his own money only to lose to Tea Partier Ted Cruz---who came out of nowhere.
Ryan will galvanize the Tea Party 's grassroots like no other VP candidate.
Many others are glad Mitt did not pick Rubio---I am sick of his smug face flashing the latino "we're taking over" signal."
We don’t live in a perfect world! Even Reagan nominated “Sandra Day O’Connor” who upheld Roe/Wade, and he and picked a pro-abortion candidate as his VP choice. So, sounds to me you expect to live in a perfect world.
The Tea Party is astroturf, haven’t you heard? Also, it’s dead...
That’s ok. Let’s stay focused on the big prize... GETTING RID OF THE SOCIALIST NIGHTMARE this November.
Thank you. This the type of thinking that you saw above is exactly why we end up with moderate candidates, because everyone else gets knocked out for not being perfect. Ryan has done more to move the ball in the right direction in the past three years than anyone else in Washington.

Nobody said anything about perfect.
I’m simply amazed that so called conservatives are now pushing Ryan as a brilliant pick even after he voted for the afforementioned bills (TARP, AutoBailout, NDAA, Medicare-D), which have done nothing to reduce spending.

the best thing about the Ryan pick... it sets up a possible 16 year strangle hold on the presidency by Republicans with the most conservative president ever holding office the last 8.
Many of voters are either mind numbed liberals or give up ... lets us compromise Christian conservatives. We have turned the other cheek too many times already, plus we do not like the spotlight and thus the criticism that deluges conservatives. Crap is crap, no way to change it. We must unite or we are giving it to Obama and thus our own demise.

The GOPe seems to be all tingly in the legs about Mr. Ryan.
There are other choices that may have been worse, IMHO.
And since Mr. Romney opposes the budget from Mr. Ryan, I doubt they will make a happy couple.
Follow the issues, read the ballot, and vote your principles.
If Mr. Romney is elected, I think there will be a lot of very disappointed conservatives in his first twelve months.
