Glad my husband is on terminal leave and retiring officially in October.

He’s worked his BUTT off for 26 years. Did some enormous work in Iraq over the past few years. I was a bit sad he did not get promoted to general, because I felt he deserved it ...but if THIS is what we’re promoting now — forget it. They can have this crap.

The military he served in has essentially, disappeared.

Congrats! There is life after retirement for sure!!! I retired last year as a Chief in the Navy. It is wonderful being retired and my family agrees. It is sad what is happening to our military (just awful). Please ensure that your husband gets ALL of his aches and pains listed in his medical record. It is amazing how crazy the process is for the VA. It has been 14 months since I retired and still nothing from the VA....Looking at other people I know who retired a year before me. I should get my info probably in early 2013 only 18 months after retirement....Ugh.
