CNN has not ruled out bringing back "Manimal".

You’re right. Even as scripted, edited, and spun as the “reality” shows are, they would be a significant step closer to truth than the usual drivel coming from the MSM. However, going for acting talent may just be a final admission that it isn’t really news, all just show...

Here’s a suggestion. Try journalism. Straight forward reporting of the news of the day with serious investigative reporting and analysis by well informed, well repsected observers......if there are any left.

Let me save them some money. Practice fairness. If you have someone one from the left, then have their EQUAL on from the right. Practice journalism using both sides of the arguement. Present both sides FAIRLY. It is OK to show opinions. It is not OK to dress them up as a straight news piece. Hire an editorial board of those from the right and the left and equally spaced from the center. Better yet, have the analysis on the news reflect such.

I think you may have inadvertently hit on something there. There are and have been tv series about fictitious news shows and/or networks but here they could keep doing just what they've always been doing only use real actors and call it a prime-time drama.

” - - - CNN execs have been making the rounds of Hollywood’s top talent agencies — something entertainment networks do - - - “

HEY, CNN! Why not try a real news show?

You know, no talking over the top of guests,
only ask one question at a time,
be sure the audience fully understands the guests’ viewpoints,
do NOT argue the counterpoint with a guest,
and for the host: keep your damn opinions to yourself.

We will not waste our time if you throw your media gimmicks into an information-packed news hour, as every second that does not contain source information is a second wasted.

We watch the news to become better informed, NOT to be entertained!

Tick-Tock.

I actually tried to give CNN a chance a number of times this past year, when FoxNews became such an embarrassingly unpalatable Rove/Romney GOP-E cheerleading squad (constantly trashing Newt, Perry, Palin, the Tea Party... anyone that didn’t worship at the feet of Mitt). But good grief, CNN was beyond horrid! Might as well call it the Gay News Channel, as I don’t know how anyone straight could stomach it.

Now I’ve almost entirely just given up on all the news channels. Rarely watch any of them. Maybe a half-hour’s worth per week at most. Funny, because I’d been a news junkie for DECADES, but somehow this election season has managed to totally kill that.

Ooo, oooo, ooooo..... I got it! A political comedy with a nod to retro:

The Odd Couple

Starring Anderson Cooper and Andrew Sullivan

Imagine the lines, "Anderson, you ignorant slut!";

"Andy, you pompous poofter!"

the No. 3 cable news channel has started seeking out ...big-name stars not afraid to talk politics

They're gonna bring back Hollyweird Squares?

They can get Ted Danson to host.

He needs a gig until he can start making television cameos as a Mitt Romney impersonator.

I could personally turn CNN ratings around in one week. I’d start by hiring James O’Keefe and give him a million dollars to start with and tell him to go do anything he wants to do as long as it was legal.

Then I’d institute good ol’ fashioned yellow journalism as the metric for raises and advancement. The more people you get fired with your stories, the more money you make. There would be bonuses for firings, like the bonuses the New Orleans Saints paid their defensemen for cheap shots. I’d also concentrate on the left because that’s where all the low hanging fruit is since everything they’ve done for the last few years has been completely covered up.

Heck, I think I’d give Joe Arpaio his own show. I’d have a show called “The Birther Show”. I’d hire Glenn Beck and tell him to bring down as many political figures as possible. Another show would be devoted to whistle blowers, both already outted ones as well as new ones, which would be featured with silhouettes and altered voices.

Yellow journalism fireworks 24 hours a day. It would be better than a soap opera. People wouldn’t be able to stop watching. Ratings zoom up and sponsors line up. I’d make money doing this and make lots of it.

Interestingly, I think CNN killed all television news by giving us a 24 hour news cycle. It’s pretty much all crap (I stopped watching long ago) and is nothing but of overpaid idiots giving their opinion.

There is no news or reporting anymore ... by anyone. “News entertainment” could go away tomorrow and America would probably be a much better place.

I have a reality idea for a Phoenix style assent to the top ratings.. Find someone looking to become an instant star..

Ask Obongbong, where is your real BIRTH CERTIFICATE, and SOCIAL SECURITY DOCUMENTS.. The next show, ask him where are his COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS, and PASSPORT RECORDS..

Next show have a Voice Stress Analysis(VSA), on the program, to test the response of the responders for the White House..

So on and so forth.. you get the idea.. Any of those shows would get my attentions, even PAY-FOR-VIEW.. LOL.. :)

LMBO!
CNN is trolling Hollywood for pundits to counter Fox News’ fair and balanced programming?
Hilarious.

They may as well just try to plunder “talent” from MSNBC, since that’s apparently what they want to be.

"The DNC Show" has sinking ratings?

They've only been showing reruns 24 hrs a day for 20 years.
